    • RE: WIP King Tiger Tank

tks Tomislavm, Durant and Marian, for all your comments.

Tomislavm, there is still a lot of work to do mainly in the front i still have to model the MG34 sphere and the driver periscope, but the main parts of the tank are finished, now it's more about detailing work, i have to make all the tools and cables on the sides, and i'm thinking on how to make the Zimmerit.
Yesterday i made a big push and it looks almost finished, the figures came from the 3d warehouse, the radio operator and the driver are from "THE DOWNLOADABLE ARTIST" 9 and 1 models by Max Grueter, and the commander the model "GENERAL" by moon with the head from "DIVER PORTRAIT" also by Max Grueter.

    • 2 Roman Basilicas in Kerky

Hi all, this has my first post here i've chosen some old models of mine, the Basilica Maxentius and the Basilica Iulia both in Rome. I'm sorry for the poor quality of the renders but i'm still giving my first steps in Kerkythea.
The cross vaults in basilica Maxentius where realy fun to do, i realy like the end result, the walls and floor still need a lot of work.

James E. Packer, version of the Forum of Trajan is absolutely fantastic!
Because he only modeled this forum he was able to give it some fantastic detail, that i can't hope to achieve!

one of te remarks he made was the columns, mine are very simple, but when you have almost 1000 columns in the model, they become a big weight factor.
once again they need some texturing.
and yes if you guessed the stripes on the columns are the corrogate rust texture from Sketchup, with a diferent color lol

    • RE: [WIP] Monumental Heart of Rome

thks for all your comments! its good to know someone likes what i'm doing!

the file now has 47.8 MB and will continiue to grow, it still lacks big areas like betwen the colosseum and the forum, and some buildings need some extra detail

I try not to give it too much detail because it´s suposed to be an urban model to understand the relations betwen all the buildings and the global look of the center of Rome.

But it still looks dead like lots of cardboard or clay buildings! i guess i need some good texturing, the geometry is there but the textures no, so im out on the hunt for classical textures.

Ron gave a great site: http://www.theinspirationgallery.com/

on the Architecture Borders section has some examples of what i'm looking for.

Lewis, happy to see you here! yes Matthew has contacted me, he has some great models too, maybe I can exchange some knowledge over ancient Rome with him.
About the Trajan Forum i have talked to James E. Packer who wrote the book The Forum Of Trajan, and aparently it is just the way you made it 😄

Here are some more pics of some few building interiors:
all of the basilicas have the interior made, this one is still far from complete
this one still need some realy big extra-detailing
here is the textured look i´m trying to get

    • [WIP] Monumental Heart of Rome

Hi all its my first post here, i think i'm going to "migrate" to sketchucation and continue to be a part of the "sketchunation"

Here is the work i'm doing as a hobby and to tunne my sketchup knowledge

It started just has a model of the republican forum, but it keeps on growing, first all the imperial forums and now the colosseum area also, i guess it will never stop as long as the pc keeps up whith all the geometry!

i´m currently just detailing existing models of the republican forum, and the colosseum area.
So here are some pictures of the work:

    • RE: Town / village

I agree with Tom, great variety, much different than without textures, in the first pictures, it looks all the same, but now it's starting to look like a a town.
I guess what it needs now is some wooden carts, or some boxes and other small stuffs to give it sense of life.

Granted, but you will never be allowed to dream again.

I wish the beautiful girls on the building across the street would move out, so i can properly focus on my work!

    • RE: [Tutorial > Modeling] Grooves in a tube?

Tks Eric, i already knew this technique, and used it to make spiral columns.
I had hope that you knew a way to make it kind of follow me, so that it could make the same effect on curved sections.
      Tks again.

( a ruby to do this whould be very usefull )

    • RE: [Tutorial > Modeling] Grooves in a tube?

      Tks Gaieus,
I know, i have been thinking if it is really worth it, it might give too much weight to the model, for a barely visible feature, but in either case even if ultimately i don't use it, it will still be useful to learn some more sketchup skills.

Here is a pic of what i need.

      tks for your help!

Acho que a melhor maneira de explicar é veres este ficheiro:

      http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=965d0e30adbbfde56d54820ed0a227f9&prevstart=0

Nada de muito complicado, apenas um truque.
Como vai esse modelo? as cenas que te expliquei funcionaram?
