RE: Coordinating two screens on mac
GRREEEEAT! a million thanks, chuck. that suits me perfectly. it was just there, and i did not see it!
being apple what it is, they would have thought of that.
another doubt: is it possible to close the notebook's lid and keep it working? sometimes i do not need the two screens and would like to work only with the 20" one.
regards.

RE: Coordinating two screens on mac
hi chuck,
i knew about the mirroring feature. what i do not like about it is that the big screen loses definition with that. things appear much bigger and less defined in the big one than when i am not in mirror mode.
do you know how to solve that?
cheers.

Coordinating two screens on mac
guys, i need some help. i just bought a macbook pro 15" and a 20" apple cinema display and wonder how you coordinate the use of two monitors.
i was hoping it would be possible to close the macbook and work solely on the big screen (and only use the two at the same time when really needed). so far i have not found a way to do that. what i can do is work with both at the same time, the 20" being used as an enlargement of the macbook's screen. this is ok but makes me keep moving my head from side to side as i have not been able to move the top menus to the bigger screen. for instance, on SU i can have the modelling area on the big screen and the menus and tool sets on the small one but i do not find this arrangement that confortable.
does anyone know how to do what i want? would a separate application be needed for that?
cheers.

RE: Got hot? (Aug 2007)
An entire chile is an all- out assault on the senses, akin to swigging a cocktail of battery acid and glass shards...
as I understand it the chilli is addictive in the same way long distance running or swimming is. Apparently chilli makes the body believes it's on fire and the brain releases endorphines to sooth the anticipated pain - these endorphines are addictive and the more chilli you eat - the more chilli you want to eat.

great tips, guys. both movies were made by the same person.

RE: Digital pen and paper...
i had never heard of them. i have just gotten to tablets but perhaps i should have a good look of those pens. if they can register your handwriting they can certainly get your doodles.
as usual, no mac support at the start.

RE: I think you all rock....
you are absolutely right, kris. and think that all this did not exist before may!
the SCF has made a difference for me and, i am sure, to hundreds of others out there.
thanks to you, too, for being a most active member of this community.

RE: It's Official... I love you guys!
this is great news, craig. i am very glad we could show our appreciation of the work you have been doing when it was most needed.
good luck to you and your family.
p.s.: now that you have been hired you can send us those free copies of SU Pro 7 beta! haha, just kidding!

RE: Basic illustration app needed
susan, thanks for the tip.
i probably did not think of it because the idea was to get a very basic, intuitive app that i could learn to use in minutes. layout demands some time to get its basic functions. like stu, the previews had scared me off. i'll have a closer look at it.
cheers.

RE: Basic illustration app needed
thank you all for the tips. i shall certainly check them all.
forgot to tell you i am on mac!
regards.
p.s.: just to give you sth in return, i found a very nice-looking little app called Rita, for basic drawing. just the icon is worth the try.

Basic illustration app needed
hi there,
i need a free or shareware app that would allow me to import a picture (say, something like a screen shot) and highlight parts of it using circles, boxes, arrows and the like. not a mammoth like freehand or illustrator but something basic.
any suggestions? TIA.

RE: Needed badly: perforated steel sheet images
@sketchy said:
What shape perforation are you looking for? Have you tried scaling some of the fencing materials since they have a mixture of translucent and opaque?
I'm not sure if you are trying this but it doesn't look like a texture can cast a broken shadow.
sketchy,
the shape doesn't really matter as this is going to be seen from afar. what i need is something that would look metal-ish and would allow some light to filter through.
no, i have not tried to scale fencing materials. where could i find them?

Needed badly: perforated steel sheet images
i am testing a solution for a sun screen using perforated steel sheets but do not have any images that i could use as texture in my design.
would any of you out there be kind enough to provided me with some images?
thanks.

RE: Soup to Ease the Diet
susan,
if you substitute a salad (lots of) for soup you get the same result. it gives one a feeling of satiation that leaves little room for villains that make you gain weight.
