    • RE: 3d pdf anybody ?

      Hi Bertier

I have the SimLab 3d PDF and it is very much a plus for client presentation. πŸ‘
Very positive response from all and is fun to boot. πŸ˜„
Check out the demo of course.
You will find that the demo is set for the Auto Camera mode. πŸ‘Ž and zooms automatically.
A big PIA and cannot be changed in the demo but not so in the paid for version.

    • RE: Valiarchitects - plugins

      New question:
Does it work with SU 7.1 free
      or just 8.0 Pro? ❓

Is path hard coded to standard SU install?
If so how about an install that has a path option?

Road does not work for me with SU 7.1 free std path and does not show in Plugins for non standard SU 8 Pro path.

      thx

      Hi Chuck

      WOW πŸ‘
      Question ? β˜€
Have not tried Road King yet but will the road follow a preset path using standard highway slopes/grades and such or is it just a contour follower? ❓
Really slick stuff and thanks for such good docs too.

    • RE: Still looking for a good drafting companion for Sketchup...

      dr

Take a look at Turbocad 17 deluxe.
      ($129.00 US)
      Imports SU and in/out dxf-dwg to V 2011
You can get a demo at:
      http://www.turbocad.com/TurboCAD/TurboCADWindows/TurboCADDeluxe17/tabid/1599/Default.aspx

Very complete and easy to use. πŸ‘
This version has the "Design Director" which includes a very good layer manager too.

      Coen

You are a little quick to comment.
The link goes to Jim's website and the list of his scripts which include a link to selector.

    • Selector UPD ?

Selector by Jim Folz still works on SU V8 Pro.
Uses web dialog to select all edge, face, group.
      Seen here:
      http://sketchuptips.blogspot.com/p/my-plugins.html
Using the format to add Layer to menu per other selections it shows in the menu but "(0) layers found.
Anyone know if there is there a way to add Layer to the selection.?
Very slick script as it stands and thx to Jim for sharing it. πŸ‘

    • RE: Sketchup on a Thumb Drive?

      Hi All

Someone worked out SU 7 Portable sometime ago. πŸ‘
It is just the executable and will run on almost any drive.
I'm not sure if it is OK to provide for download but maybe there is an old link or such to access.

    • RE: The new Render[In] plugin

      New Beta better.

Faster and pretty much per ATL render quality.
Slick presets and just enough to do a Q&D output.
Works OK with SU 8 Pro.
Typ radiosity output and a little flat and plastic IMO.

While a fine artist like Ross will always get the best out of an app for my eye the KT engine (Twilight too) still wins for exterior renders.
Faster too (photon map + AA)
A couple of renders of a project model that i use to compare outputs.

      Just for info.

      Hi Ross

Thx for the headsup on this.
      IMO disappointing.
Very bugy and failed to see all elements of some models and default lighting as well.
Seems slow and no indication that it will multithread.
Render qual just so so and just NPR at best.

For $50 +/- a maybe but TWR and KT still a better choice.
To remove just delete or move to a hold folder the renderin_load.rb and renderin folder.

πŸ‘Ž as it stands but always worth checking out the next beta.

      😞

      hi EM

Tried with no other script installed on SU 8 pro on desktop (XP Pro) and SU 8 free on my laptop.(Win 7 family pro)
(made sure that sketchup.rb was there too per script req)

The sketchup.rb is a copy of the one on version 7.1 that works like a charm.
      version info:for script

Author : Bill Wood at wh.wood@ntlworld.com

Usage : Select component(s) on faces and run

      Date : April 2006 - May 2009

      Test made on hole cutout.skp

Script shows up on plugin menu but no luck on select/execute.?

Too bad to not have this one work for sure.
Thanks for taking another look too.

      Surprise β˜€

SU 8 Pro found all my keystrokes even when installed in different folder and installed in menus too.
Layout finally worth using and solids are "very solid" Heeee. πŸŽ‰
Improvements and new adds are all good to have.
      Runs a bit faster too.

IMO good value for $95 upgrade. πŸ˜„

      Chris

A gotta have script and just super for tracing over scan'd drawings and such.
Thank you so very much. 😍

Note that if one selects a color visually from materials it will be the default for the line tool color.

Works well especially as on can sample on screen colors too this way for repeats.

      Cheers πŸ˜„

    • RE: Texture scanning.

      Hi Solo

Finally a chance for some small payback for all your good help. β˜€
Here is a really good option that has a very sharp and fast lens.
I have a Nikon digital SLR, Canon point and shoot as well as a SamsungHZ10W which is previous to the Samsung TL500 per attached link.
BIG issue on the digital point and shoots is the screen brightness in open sun outside.
Until now all others have a LCD screen which is almost useless outside and even with a shade just not acceptable.
(I have a closed magnifier viewer for my Samsung that just works OK)
The TL500 has an AMOLED screen which is really bright and a quantum better than the old LCD format.
As there are no optical viewers on almost all point and shoots the screen quality is really key.
This is a real keeper and has an optical focal length with 24mm ultra wide and 3X zoom.
      Check it out here

    • RE: Trying to define SketchUp Limitations

      Hi Jody

      Just to keep it simple.
CPU Multi-thread and GPU processor upgrade would be a good start.
Shadows and textures just kill speed of access.
Poly count seems to need just more threads to think faster.

      Cheers
