Having fun modeling these things from the late 1800s. Here’s a “rope pulley” which is a little over 5 feet in diameter. These were used with cotton rope to drive mills for spinning or fabric production. This one would have had four ropes each of which was spliced end to end to make continuous loops. Very quiet operation. [image: N5kM_Wheel.png] Here are a couple of similar wheels with a single cable wrapped around multiple times and spliced end to end to make one continuous loop. To get the cable from one side of the the large wheel to the opposite side of the smaller wheel, the cable runs up over the upper wheels which are set at angles to provide a good lead. Thank you, David. It is a perspective view but my template is set up with the camera focal length set to 75mm so the perspective isn't quite as pronounced as with the default 57mm. FWIW, the screw threads are all drawn to match the specs for the jig. Funny thing is the specs for the jig are metric (16mm x2 left hand and right hand threads for the central screw) but the drill guides are all bored for imperial sizes.

this, 2 chairs and a blanket, was actually my classic "setup" to build a small shelter - in my childhood and on rainy days ...

Very nice model. Thanks Dave Making a piece out of one board is a very worthwhile project. I stumbled upon a 16/4 board of cherry that became a chest of drawers. It was a fun challenge.

Dave, Beautiful work BTW, I'll give you five bucks for a copy of all your texture libraries (mainly the wood stuff, I really suck at wood stuff and can never find what I need anywhere online). I'm talking cash! Steve

Yes, they do make a lot of sense in certain situations. I made a pair of bedside tables for clients last year from hardwood T&G flooring they had left over. The insides of the carcase was rough as, each board bowed or cupped and too much work to flatten them. So the NL method was just the ticket. A simple matter to fit each drawer bottom nicely, and then fit the sides clear of the carcase.

Thanks David! News Gothic could be it. The font/type face appears to have been available in the time period. I had thought about but rejected the Leroy lettering sets based on the 3 but you could be right. At the time, other companies manufactured the key and other devices that use the same lettering. I remember some shortwave receivers and a direction finder receiver that I was given when I was about Ian's age. They had seen action in WWII. They had the same or nearly the same lettering on them. (I wish I still had them but they got passed on being too heavy to move.) I guess I'll leave the labeling as it is on the key now, though. Your clues led me to find a set of fonts created from the Leroy lettering guides. My next overly detailed model might be the scriber and of course I'd need to model the templates.

I just get a model with thousands of groups and components where all axis are wrong. I'm looking for that plugin too.

I agree with you and I have sat in some comfortable classic Adirondack chairs in my time. My favorite place to sit in them was at the Naniboujou Lodge overlooking Lake Superior. They have a different style that I should model someday.

Thank you, gentlemen. The textures are hand drawn and the edge style is called Pencil Speed and comes from the SUC Pencil Styles from the Shop. FWIW, you can at least see a photo of the real thing here.

I find that to be common too. Sometimes worse than others (the part about tools not dropping out for example). Also I notice many plugin operations hang for a long time after the action is complete on screen.
