    • Matching plugins and layout on 2, SU18 installations?

      Hi all,

Haven't been on here in a while. Always a great resource tho. I am re-installing 2 installations of SU2018 and would like to know the best or easiest way to match the plugins and tool layout for both installs. Could I just copy one plugins folder from the first installation and paste to the same folder in to the second stall? Or, is there a better way?

      Thank you,
      Jeff Osborne

    • Best bang for the buck???

      Hi Everyone,

I just upgraded my SU Pro 8 to 2017 finally. I had SU Pro 8 with V-Ray. Now I want to either upgrade or purchase a new/different Rendering package. Looking for input and feedback on what people here are using and pro & cons of them. I'd like the one I choose to have texture mapping for more realistic renders if possible so this may narrow the choices. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks very much.

      Cheers,
      Jeff

    • Good Alternative for Rendering Software/Plugin?

      Hi All,

Been away from here for too long. I'll be upgrading my Sketchup to the newest version and would like some input on whats available for good rendering software. I currently have Sketchup Pro 8 and V-Ray. V-Ray is not supporting 2017 yet. Input welcome and appreciated.

      Thank you,
      Jeff

I was more advanced years ago, but photomatch is a feature I've never needed to use. Found the trick tho. Have to uncheck the foreground photo. Thanks again Dave. Much appreciated.

    • Photo Match Question....Colour not showing properly.

      Hi All,

Haven't been on here in ages. Gotta change that! I have a project I'm doing for a friend where I need to use Photomatch. I have a partially drawn model and would like to Photomatch it. When I bring in the photo, the model colours do not show properly. I've played with the view settings and found that clicking x-ray will bring the colours back, but they are transparent. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

      Jeff

    • Installing existing plugins into newest version?

      Hi there,

Wondering...once I upgrade to the latest SU version, can I just copy my existing plugin files into the proper folder without any issues or will I have to re-download a certain way? Wanting to avoid any issues before it's too late. Thanks in advance.

      Cheers,

    • Interactive on a website?

      Hi All,

I'm in the process of developing a system of manufacturing something and would eventually like to have an online tool that a client could design a product using pre-made components either IN or FROM Sketchup. Is there a way to do this?

      Thanks,
      Jeff

    • Looking for a Cloth Type Backdrop for a scene.

      Hi everyone,

I'm looking to render a clear acrylic cover and would like to have a cloth type backdrop to enhance the clear cover better. Something like what you'd see in a photo shoot. Any ideas or models would be awesome. Nothing I've been able to find on the warehouse. Thanks in advance.

I was looking for inspiration today. I just got it!!!! Absolutely amazing models and renders here. Great work everyone. Sketchup is so under valued and estimated for its ability of what it's capable of doing. Again, amazing work here by everyone.
      Thanks all,

      Hi All,

I'd love to find out if there is a way to TRULY "lock" the tool bars position? On a min/max the window, the tool bars move and I have to re-arrange them....again! Any advice or just live with it?

      Thanks,
      Jeff

    • Arc center point Plugin?

      Hello,

I will get models from other people that have arcs that I need the center point for. Are there any plugins for this where I can select the arc and then use the ruby to place the center point?

      Thanks,
      Jeff

    • RE: Best Paid Plugins?

      Hey Guys,

Thanks for your input so far. Yes, my question was a bit general so I'll try and get more to what I'd like. I have been building in the cabinets/millwork/plastics fabricating industries for many years. I am currently contracting my services at a custom exhibit/trade show booth company. There are probably 4 or more different design/modelling software programs being used by the design department. They don't all play well together and every now and then, I wonder if I should be looking at different software to use for myself. When I get a design file, usually DXF from an Autodesk program, it doesn't import well. The scale is usually way off and things are missing. I always boast about how Sketchup is very fast and fairly quick for the learning curve. What makes it REALLY awesome though are the plugins/rubys that everyone here has written to allow one to do things that would more or less be impossible without them. I know, based on some screenshots of uploads here, I see many tools bars that don't look familiar. I would really like to continue using Sketchup as my main design software, so I am looking for more incentive like more tool bars/rubys that would make my life easier. When I drawing what I'm going to be building, I drawing each and every part of the unit/kiosk/display just like I will be building it. I will also use these files for CNC cut files. That's a different question I'll post later. Need advice if any on scaling etc for when I export as a DXF. Anyway, I'd love to acquire more time saving, problem solving plugins that will put other programs to shame πŸ˜„. More advice and input will always be appreciated. Thanks again for taking the time to help.

      Cheers,
      Jeff

      Hey guys,

I'm back from a while of being away and busy with life. Needing to get back to the electronic drawing board. I'm looking for opinions on what are the best or must have plugs, free or paid? Thanks in advance!
