Hi TIG,
thank you for the explanation and effort. I took the photo in Photoshop and cropped again and it worked so well. Thanks again.

Hi,
I've used the plugin again with two PNGs. With the EURO PNG it works flawlessly. The second generated PNG with the lady does not work. So I suspect that the Second PNG is flawed. Does anyone know what could be the error in this PNG?

Hi,
I've once again seen the Diolkos software. There is no way to export a DXF. You can export the project into three different ASCII formats (see screen shot below). Is there a way to convert them so they can be imported into SketchUp?

Road design is a technique that had interested me for a long time. In SketchUp, it is very difficult to construct a natural-looking street in an uneven terrain. The best tool I've ever seen for Sketchup till now is the Valiarchitects instant road plugin.
I've experimented with many programs, including GeoControl 2 and Diolkos Road Design (Prof. 3D CAD software).
Have a look at this topics: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=19578&hilit=Road+design

For the development of a road in the terrain you need the actual height measurement points, and many other data. The program then calculates a DTM with the road. The results look like in your DXF file (without DTM). The area with the road can then be exported as 3D DXF file. But such programs are hard to master for us laymen.

What is "TIG" says is true. You'd have every height measurement point from the graph, set with the contour lines and the road in relation to it and construct the terrain. But that would be a hard work.
Hi AcesHigh,
I'm not a CAD specialist. Do you know the software which were created these drawings with? If yes, is there a digital terrain model stored? If you import these drawings into Autocad You have also only 2D drawings.
Have a look here: http://diolkos3d.com/index.htm
Charly
Hi AcesHigh,
I think that these 2D drawings are from a originate CAD Road planning application. I think that you can not use these drawings to create a 3D terrain. I've ever dealt with such programs for a while. And if I'm not mistaken, the model must be exported from the corresponding 3D CAD program as a 3D DXF file or a point cloud file.

Hi,
I have long worked in the planning and realization of pharmaceutical and medical facilities. In the late eighties, our company was established in Autocad. I've seen how long it lasted until the employee has mastered the system. Years later, Autocad 3D was used in the planning. But most of the construction processes are starting with 2D drawings before it can be thought of a 3D visualization. I think this also applies to architectural projects.
I can only speak from my experience in the technical field of plant construction. The process of developing a technical system starts with the product and the necessary equipment to produce it. This applies to mechanical processes, as well as for industrial processes. Planning begins with 2D drawings. And here lies the focus of the CAD and 3D programs and this is where the CAD programs have their base.
And it's just the way, if a company has opted for a software package and its planning processes has focused on will be difficult to convince them to use an other software.
I think the 3D visualization is only a small part in a planning process usually at the end of a complex planning process for a building or an industrial plant or a machine. And many planning steps are not feasible or very difficult with Sketchup.
Therefore, the provider of complete software packages, such as Autodesk, will always have the edge.
SketchUp is a great and easy to learn program and it is great to construct and visualize quickly an idea and I love this program. But it only covers a very small part in a planning or construction process.
I use Sketchup as a hobbyist but when I try to visualize a real building or a machine I have to do a small planning process before that means I need at first 2D plans.
For relatively simple projects, this is certainly doable with Sketchup. For complex industrial or Building projects, it is certainly necessary to deal with other 3D or CAD programs. I guess that's why it makes no sense to compare SketchUp with other CAD or other 3D programs.
But SketchUp occupied a small niche in the overall spectrum of 3D software for those who want to familiarize themselves relatively quickly in the 3D visualization.
And I do not think that Google has an interest to compete with other 3D programs. Therefore, any user of SketchUp, whether professional or amateur, should make the most of it for themselves.

Hi,
I have exchanged the ivy files through the Wisteria files. The generation of Wisteria leaves works, but in the bush still appears ivy leaves. What do i wrong? I am grateful for any information.
Charly
Thanks for the tip, I had an older version of TT_Lib2. Now it works again.
Charly
Hi Thomas.
I have updated to version 3.1.6 but now no more menu box appears. I can run it but only with "Clean with last settings". What could be wrong? In the ruby console appears (see picture below)
Charly
Hi Gaieus,
Congratulations for your birthday. I wish you only the best for your further life.
Charly
Hi,
A nice tool, it works beautifully, thanks. What I still do not understand is, how can you change the twigs and leaves. Would someone kindly explain this for example with the Wisteria Bloom from Adam (Eartmover). Thanks in advance.
Charly
Hi,
I use to record music the "No23 Recorder". It is a free, but very good program.
Hi Jeremy,
Would it be possible to post the files in 3ds format. As far as I know you can only convert max files with 3DS Max in 3ds files.
Charly
Hi Chris,
Your voice and your music is still scalable. I like your songs.
Here the MP3 with a little reverb and chorus.
Charly
Dear TIG,
You have given me and many others, again very helpful tips with your expert explanations.
That was a good time to cleanup my plugin directory. I had so many plugins that I have never used or very rarely. With many more I knew not what function they have. I've promised myself that from now I install plugins only when I need it really.
In my context menu, all functions are now active again and SketchyFFD works fine now and Sketchup boots faster.
Many Thanks again TIG.
Charly
Hi,
I installed the latest Ruby in the plugins folder in Sketchup 8. I do not get it to work. In the context menu the functions are all grayed out.
