I had the same problem with sending .SKP as an attachment with Mozilla Firebird.
Some how the files sometimes get corrupted.
I solved it by zipping the files before putting them in the mail.

Thanks. I'll try that.

Are you sure they are the SKP and not the backup SKB files ?
If so change the end B to P and they'll open in SketchUp πŸ˜•

Thanks TIG. Yes, they are .skp files

• This does not appear to be a SketchUp model

I have a model that my consultant is sending me. But no matter what version of SketchUp he saves it in, I get the same message trying to open it.

What could be the problem?

Thanks.

<!-- ia0 -->plywood-mdf-design-banq-restaurant-boston.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:133yu3cx]Hi folks, I searched and did not found yet, a plugin/method to create, from a given surface, individual elements to make the surface "discrete", in slices, like in the attached images. Such a plugin will ease a lot making molds, architectural shapes, from flat CNC-cut shapes. Thanks for helping me find a easier solution.

I wonder if this plwyood/mdf has warped yet, or when it does, what it will look like 😞

Oli,

That worked. It just wound up shifting the image a little bit but all I had to do was move it in place.

Thanks again. Ben

• RE: Podium and Photo Textures

Oli,

I painted on it on as a texture. Then changed the texture location using the pins. I only converted it to a projected texture after it didn't render correctly, thinking that was the trick.

I guess I need to go and try to re-apply it.

So it should render fine, even if you stretch it with the pins?

Thanks. Ben

• Podium and Photo Textures

I'd like to render the model with a photo used as a texture applied to a surface to show existing conditions.

What is the trick to getting Podium to render this correctly? SU model image and Podium images below.

Thank you.SU ImagePodium Image

Super cool Fredo!!. A big thank you.

Fredo, I can enter model units (inches)for a line length, but as soon as I add a unit (feet), it gives me an error message.

Disregard Fredo. I tried entering 5' as length and couldn't. I realized I have to enter it as 5'-O".

I've said it before, but thanks you! 😍

I think you forgot to say that if you place a folder called BTW_Textures in your plugin folder and choose use Apply material: Rand_Tex it will use all textures in that folder. Here are a few tests I've made:

<!-- ia3 -->Bricks01.jpg<!-- ia3 -->[/attachment:1u96rdu7]
Can you spot the tiling? No, because there is none. This is with 10 small seamless brick textures used.

<!-- ia2 -->floor03.jpg<!-- ia2 -->[/attachment:1u96rdu7]
This is just one single seamless texture used.

<!-- ia0 -->tiles01.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:1u96rdu7]
This is also just one texture used.

Pixero, thank you very much.

• RE: Export Options

Figured it out. It helps to read the manual 😳

Scaling inputs can only be done when the camera is in Parallel Projection.

• Export Options

When I export my SKP file to a 2d .dwg file, all the linework gets scaled up about 125%. But when I do so as a 3d .dwg, it comes in scaled to the exact SKP file measurements.

I noticed that the 2d export window shows a Drawing Scale and Size input, but they are greyed out, not accessible for input. Is this the culprit?

Thanks.

• 3d Warehouse

I'm wondering if there is a way quickly return back to your last search, after you download a model into SketchUp from 3d Warehouse? It's very frustrating that it kicks you out of the search window and have to re-enter information again if you want to download more items.
