RE: Face and Shape of Specific Area
TIG,
OK, thanks.
I get the same result if I explode the curve or polygon. Simple non-curve lines around a face work fine.

RE: Face and Shape of Specific Area
Perhaps it's the way the units are entered?

RE: Face and Shape of Specific Area
Architectural Units, accuracy at 1/16".
Attached is the file. Original circle about 78sf. Larger Circle was supposed to be 100 sf.

RE: Face and Shape of Specific Area
TIG, tried it and it doesn't scale properly. Working in sq. ft. units.
Thanks. Ben

Face and Shape of Specific Area
Is there a way to create a face with a specific area? I'd like to draw circles or polygons with a specific area.
Thanks.

Just a thought bubble, might it be a good idea for the Sketchucation executives to consider creating a new forum in sketchucation specialising in transitioning from Sketchup to Blender? This may reinvigorate Sketchucation which has taken a beating since Trimble took over Sketchup. And would be a great help for people transitioning or simply for Skethup users to use the qualities of both programs. It would certainly work for me. Anyway like I said just a though bubble.
Rich O'Brien is fluent in Blender, he'd be a good tutor as he comes from SU and understands the issues most SU users have in Blender, I vote he starts the revolution, even I will join.
Hats off and a huge thanks to the plugin authors, they have been keeping SU alive the last few years You know they are listening as a few new importers and poly reducers are on the horizon, too bad we need such tools due to SU's poly limitations.
I'm on board with Solo's remarks, specifically the plugin authors. I hate that I have to say it, but I've been digging into Blender and others more than ever before because of SU's lack of progress and attention.

Can't wait for 6d rendering apps that let you smell and taste too.

RE: Door Handles
Yoni,
Thanks again for straightening me out. I can insert Flex Doors without any issues.
Can't wait for the Cutter doors to have all the same option selections as the standard doors.

Hi Ben,
When you change the thickness of the door from within the component options, the handles should adjust automatically.
If you want to change the door handle height and distance, there are settings for that within the component options.
If you’re using the ‘cutter’ component, to get to those settings you have to double click on the door and then select the inner component.Hello, the handles did not move when I changed the door thickness, so that was why I asked.
Thanks.

Door Handles
How would I get the door handles to properly move if I change the thickness of the door? If I go into the nested door handle component and move it manually, it snaps back to it's original position

Thanks for the explanation to my questions. I'll try your suggestions and let you know.
So, bottom line, if I want a door opening that needs to have an exact 24" or 30" or 36" door leaf, I will have to do some additional math or some trial and error on the overall dimensions, then measure the door leaf width/height?
I believe so. You would leave the "Side Panel:" setting we mentioned above on "(a) OFF", and you would need to calculate and input the Total width of the door by adding up the following:
"Frame - Width" X 2
+
"Clearance - Sides and Top" X 2
+
The door leaf opening you require. (24" or 30" etc.)Once you have that set, you can save the door aside into the "Favorites Library". (check out the star icon with a plus on it). Once it's saved, you can pull it back in to the model quickly by clicking on the Star icon (without a plus).
One more note: You can change the default door that gets pulled in from the main toolbar by right clicking on the components within the Favorites Window...
Thanks so much for your response s

RE: Flex Door
Sent you the model.
Other questions: When I insert a Flex Door, the component is identified as "FlexWindow CT#1". When I double-click the DC, the component inside is now called "flexdoor#2". Related to these two component levels:
-
As FlexWindow CT#1, the component options are limited to 7 parameters. I can dynamically change the component's height and width (door in this case). If I double-click into this component and select the "flexdoor#2" component, the component options are then more detailed, or additional settings. If I try to change the height or the width here, the component does not dynamically change. Why?
-
Related to the 2nd level component, or "flexdoor#2", is there a reference guide as to what b), c), etc., refer to? It's hard to customize these components without knowing. However since the component doesn't seem to be affected by changing numbers, at this point I can't customize the door anyway. This is very disappointing, as much as I like the work you did for this extension.
Thanks.

RE: Flex Door
Actually, the Display Units Format box is checked but greyed out. I cannot uncheck it.
-
RE: Flex Door
Yes I did.
I had and have the ‘Display units format’ box checked, both in my original model and brand new model.
In the Component Options dialogue, the units are Imperial, but when I select Component Attributes, the units there are in metric.
Thanks. Ben

RE: FlexTools: descriptive drawing for parameters
I would affirm the request. When looking at the component attributes, how is does one know what A), B), etc. refer to.
A great plugin, but some tutorials would be helpful.
Thanks.

RE: Flex Door
OK. Thanks for the help.
The units come in as imperial, but when I go to component attributes, the units are still in metric. I'm trying to change or establish my actual door leaf dimensions. Changing the door opening sizes under Component Options, does work, but how am I able to change attributes in Imperial units?
Thanks.
