AndriyG81, you seem to have a very good eye for framing a render, too. I noticed that in your "rubik statue" render. How about some tips on that?
I am afraid I will not be able to teach that. At least not yet. I am practicing this skill myself. While there are some "rules" to composition, often best results come from "happy accidents" or when you brake those rules. For me personally, digital photography helps a lot. Seeing things truth a camera, helps me later frame my renders. Maybe one day I can write a tutorial but for now I am just a student.

BTW, do you know that the ability to do scaled printing is covered nowhere in the SketchUp videos? That's another idea.
Ahhh golden days in Architecture School... I remember it like it was few month ago.... wait it was few month ago. You really up to something. I been dealing with sketchup for so long that I forgot how much frustration printing in it can be. And scale for both print an export can be an issue. Thank you, this is a great idea.

For a new user just the word ruby is scary as it's like a gateway into the scary world of computer coding, so if you could start with a user friendly introduction to ruby's, what they are, how to download and install them, where to find them, what they do, etc.
I thought it was a newbie tread I am getting responses from everyone but the newbies. I thought by now ruby topic would be covered so well that there would be no demand for it. Thank you for your contribution, I will give it a shot.
People like you guys is the reason I come back here every day Thank You

RE: Can some1 plz render this
thank you guys, you are too kind
I think every rendering is interesting in its own way
love the rusted lock -
RE: 3dconnexion space navigator does not work with sketchup 7
I also use it and there is no problem

RE: Intercept Mystery
an example file would be very helpful
Intersecting grouped geometry will behave differently from simply intersecting ungrouped geometry. Try experimenting. The behavior of lines "just being on top" usually happens when you deal with grouped geometry.

RE: Bonzai 3D First Impressions
mine closes after 4-5 seconds They call this beta? I think it is not even an alpha release.
I mean we have to enable compatibility mode in order to make it work in Vista. In software that came out in 2009, OuchI had my first meeting with products of this company in school, good old FormZ. Hated it. More then anything in my life. But was honestly hoping this will be better, but it looks so painfully familiar. I hope I am wrong and they turn it around. From a list of capabilities it sounds like a great software.

Andyriy,
Might be best to let him know how you did it and not just an example.
Scott
I just was not sure if that was what he meant. I did not want to sound like a smart a$$ explaining something unrelated
Alan did explain it well, except I think he is using an older version of v-ray. They did change the way v-ray handles the materials.
my workflow was like this:- Drag or Import Picture into Sketchup. (it will create face automaticly)
- Rotate, scale, and then explode it
- Turn it into a face me component (optional)
- Go to v-ray material tab, locate name of my imported picture
- Choose "Diffuse" and then click on "m" next to "Transparency"
- In a new window under common change Type to Bitmap
- Assign your cutout (sometimes need to be inverted)
- Render

RE: Knots on Lines - pure sketchup crap!!!
go to "Window" then "Styles"
chose edit tab and uncheck the "Endpoints"

Which version of Artlantis? I'd be curious to see the raw render.
I use Artlantis Studio 2. After it saved my behind when I was on a tight schedule and the model was huge, I grown attached to it.
and this is original render: -

Nice work Andy. I forgot we hadn't seen an Artlantis interpretation.
I figured so many people did vray and there were promises to do it in maxwell, but noone mentioned artlantis, decided to fill the gap.
Thank you for your guidance. A pushed it a little to far in photoshop, but it was too much fun, I could not stop.
