Hi,
I want to extend the object down by 273mm, but only one part can be extruded, the other part (yellow) cannot be extruded by any mm, and I don't understand why.
Sincerely
Alohaa

Only one part of the bottom edge may be extended

RE: Two intersecting dips
It has worked and I just notice that I have forgotten to thank you.
Sorry! -
Two intersecting dips
Hello,
In the part in the attached file there is a dip.
How can I make a second one that crosses the first one? It doesn't work with the Push and Pull tool because the first dip interferes. With kind regards

Restore a file that was closed by mistake without saving it?
Hello,
I unfortunately closed a Sketchup file without saving it.
Is there a way to restore it, in Windows 10?With kind regards

RE: Docking one part to another
My Sketchup is in German and you can't change the language easily
Is there a list of functions in different languages?

RE: Docking one part to another
Thank you! So there really is a procedure to respect in order to do that work correctly.
"...you should make sure to correct face orientation as you go"
What do you mean by that statement?"By the way, you should make sure to correct face orientation as you go. There should be no exposed blue back faces."
I must admit that I do not know why this face is blue.Your comment "I would suggest waiting to apply materials until after the geometry is all correct and then apply the materials to the faces, not the component containers." is surely pertinent, but it has nothing to do with the first one, since only the frames have been assigned a material, which in this case play no role? Is that correct?

RE: Docking one part to another
It is so that I always succeed after more or less many shifts of a part. So also here.
As I said, this does not only apply specifically to this work, but it is a general problem that I am always confronted with.
Perhaps there is a specific procedure that is unknown to me.I wanted to reproduce the situation just now, but I didn't succeed: now I can dock the part to the other one on the first try, but I think this problem shouldn't be unknown.

What I mean:In situations like the one on the screenshot, I have problems making the two corners marked in red coincide.

Docking one part to another
Hi,
I often have trouble getting a part to a certain point and docking it there with another part; I think aes close and when I change perspective I see it's miles away. Is there a trick to this?
Kind regards

RE: How to construct a dome?
"downsave your SKP file posted here"
oh yes, sorry, I had forgotten thatThe follow me method is indeed much more efficient.
I should try if the mill has a problem with a structure generated by that method.

RE: How to construct a dome?
I managed to construct a dome myself, but probably in a more complicated way than SU allows. There's probably a simpler solution of copying the inside of the dome and enlarging it to construct the outside; I drew both line by line, and it eventually worked out.
Above I cut out a star, but I didn't know how to put it on the dome, so I created a separate GCode for the star.

RE: How to construct a dome?
Thank you very much for all that work!
It's almost what I wanted. The only thing I had imagined differently: at the bottom it should start as a square and stand about 5mm above the edge of the tower, and then go into a curve; the base should be like in the attached picture - I didn't find a better example-, at the top of course different because there is a star-shaped cut-out there. I don't know if this is possible with SU.

RE: How to construct a dome?
...and ideally the dome would be hollow, with a wall thickness of 8mm.

How to construct a dome?
Hello,
around the central vertical line in the attached file I want to construct a dome with a hollow star-shaped object going vertically through the whole material.
The purpose: a roof for the tower also contained in the file.
Note: the construction should change from a rectangular ground plan that fits inside the top of the tower to a circle.
The dome should protrude 5mm from the side of the tower.
All my attempts to construct such an object have failed so far.Actually, I would also like to add one or more moons on the side that fits the curvature and that goes vertically (it has to be vertical because I want to mill the whole thing and I can't mill at an angle), through the whole material, but that is even more complicated and probably too complicated.
Sincerely

RE: Grooves running upwards
No, that's not really what I want.
I was able to reproduce the first solution (but it is not easy to see if it worked or not), but the second one didn't work. -
Grooves running upwards
Hello,
is it possible to have the grooves in the object in the attached file taper upwards onto the surface 2cm before the top and end edges?
I have no idea how to do this.Sincerely

RE: Transforming an inclined half cylinder to a half cone
ok, as simple as that!
Thank you -
Transforming an inclined half cylinder to a half cone
Hello,
Hello, I need to modify the pictured stand so that the 20° inclined half cylinder at the top becomes a half cone with the diameters as indicated by the pencil and I have no idea how to do it.
Is it possible with SU?
Kind regards
Alohaa
