has got to be that a new layer is on by default on every scene.

So, if I have a model with 25 scenes, all set up nicely for Layout, and I need to add a new layer for something or another, then I have to manually go through all 25 scenes and turn it back off?!

By far, for me, the most inefficient aspect of SU. And counterintuitive as heck; new layers should be OFF by default.

      Cheers, Chuck

The s/w behind scenes is a work-in-progress, with no progress.

You can only have 1 scene set, and it sits there at screen top. It is cumbersome to edit, and gives only a single timing scenario for the entire set. 👎

💭 What's needed is a scenes library/manager, where you can define any number of scene sets and call them up as desired, for edit or display.

💭 You should be able to set a time-on-screen for each scene as well as a time for transition.

💭 It does a nice smooth pan/zoom between transitions, but no fades. A few transition (2 or 3 tops) fades would be nice, maybe even a morphing transition.

💭 As stated above by OTB Designworks layer management needs to be overhauled, with more control over handling new layers, and globally on layers within sub sets of scenes.

💭 You also need a way to cycle a sub-set of scenes for testing or close review, rather than only the full play as is now.

There are probably several other enhancements that could be done, but I haven't played with scenes enough to define them yet.

I really like the idea of scene sets; I had never thought of that as an option. I could see that being quite useful

Much thanks for that plugin link; that is going to improve things around here!

On further review, this ruby does nothing on my system.

It gives me the input dialogue windows, but no new layers appear, and the hide/show layers has no effect either.

Maybe a MAC thing or a SU8 thing?

              Cheers, Chuck

I find it annoying that the program always opens with the line tool instead of the select arrow.

That's odd. It must be a PC thing because the Mac version (or my Mac version anyway) starts with the selection tool. A windows bug?

Edit; Is it something to do with how you've saved a template as? I always make my own template. Perhaps the default starts with the line tool, and making a template, to get rid of Sang, would leave you with the selection tool, which is then saved as a tool pref with the template?

Are you sure you don't have a plugin installed that modifies this? because there is no option in SU nativly to set which tool SU should activate by default. It's hard-coded to the Pencil tool.

                              Nope (I am 100% sure!).

To be honest, I've only got a couple of plugins installed, and that's not one of them. Try saving a template with a tool ready to use. It's just an idea. 😄

No - it's not model specific.

Well I can't explain that at all. 😕 But my default is always the select tool. 😲
