Or maybe you could make a copy of the model and start to slice it up with sections. Delete the part you don't need and have the model of the section cut ready to use. If you don't want to delete it, group the part you don't need and hide it.... This is going to be very useful for a job I have!!!

Hi TIG, Thank you. I have already downloaded lots of cars from the warehouse but I am getting to the point where I need to make something of my own. I thought I would try your intermediate tutorial next, wish me luck!

@anssi said: The image does not tell me much, but I have one question to make: What did you model this with? Are the "walls" and other such things done with AutoCad Architecture (or its predecessor, Architectural Desktop)? SketchUp cannot import the special "AEC" objects created by these "vertical" applications, so you would have to use the "Export to AutoCad" function in that application to export the model to a new file with the special objects translated into standard AutoCad 3D surfaces. Anssi Truthfully, it was probably created between both. I have AutoCAD Architecture at home among others which I use, and in college it's architectural desktop

Well, Rich, I guess you could not see... Whenever a new member mentions something about woodworking (for instance), I regularly help him to the UG's myself - so thanks... And Troy - sorry for misspelling (or rather mistyping) your name above - I have corrected it now.

@tig said: OR type 6.789m and the total dimension along that axis will become 6.789 meters, because you can input dimensions as well as scaling ratios... Another 'duh' for me.. (shakes head) I personally draw sketchy when designing even though i try to keep correct dimensions. After the concept is mainly done i redraw the project (or parts of it) to have a clear and correct drawing. If you have the correct dimensions, a drawing is quite quickly done, quicker than correcting a bad one. Anyway, to combine Peter's and TIG methods you could do it like this: [image: Emvj_Scalelines.jpg] Correct me, if i'm wrong. (if you know the distance you want to move the outer line it's easier to use just the move tool, but if you just know the overall distance, it would do the trick)

Hello to follow on from the questions, when the model is embeded in a webpage as a 3d model is it possible to install some code that would allow you click on a certain part ie a electric motor and this would link you to a new model on a seperate screen?

Chris Fullmer produced a tool called exploded arc centerpoint finder, which may also work on an unexploded arc. Just in case this could be handy for you.

Hi Abdullah and welcome to SCF! Indeed, SketchUp is often underestimated although beautiful things can be done with it. As for the "job offer" - well, it depends. If you have anything to share with the community (like you can offer a job to anyone), please, feel free to post in the Corner Bar (down at the bottom of the Forum index). If you are seeking job, that's different. We used to have a "Job forum" but it soon became a blatant, advertising place so we shut it down. There is a SketchUp Jobs Google Group however... But nevertheless, it's definitely nice that you asked, thanks.

Hello and welcome! I couldn˙t help noticing that Roman Aqueduct model, largely due to the fact that the city of Split, that I was born in, still uses one of them, Diokletian“s aqueduct, AFAIK. Anyway, pardon me for being off topic - looking forward to seeing more of your work Cheers!

@chris fullmer said: Are you trying to "compress" the files - make it smaller? Chris Hello Chris Fullmer, Thanks for suggestion, but I'm make model in proportion unit .......... @tig said: Purge unused stuff [Model Info > Statistics > Purge Unused]. Use Components for repeating objects wherever possible etc. Don't use excessively large image textures. etc Keep the number of polygons as small as possible etc - i.e. don't draw the 'backs' or 'inner-surfaces' of things that are never seen, don't draw every leaf on a tree, don't draw the doors' hinges and screws and their threads and pilot-holes etc etc unless they are really necessary... Hello TIG, Thanks I'm also purge ........ but not work for me And when i import the obj format file that file size is big & my sketchup is slow down What i do? Thanks ...................... My English Is Bad you understand what i mean .......... ThankS

Thanks for your views both. I have had a play with twilight and it certainly has some good effects although as you say it renders a view at a time each time. Maybe lightup is the way I should be going for its in house continuity I will give it a whirl.
