    RE: Shortcut assingment
I think File/Document Setup......is the closest you will find (useful) for updating a viewport on a locked layer.
This of course still requires you to make the additional selection of pertinant model reference(s)..........and of course select Update.

Unfortunately there is not a shortcut option for File/DocumentSetup/Reference(s)
    (I wish there were!)

    Re: File/Update Document
My guess would be you must have a specific document in the LO file selected "prior to" for this to have any effect.

    Best,
    Charlie

LayOut has two systems to prevent lost work: file backup, and auto-save.

File backup works like this: every time a file is saved, the previous version of the file is renamed with a "~" (on mac) or with "backup_" (on windows). This file will be in the same directory as the actual file that you're working on. If you ever save a file, and then realize that you saved changes you didn't want, you can try opening this backup file to basically go back to the last saved version.

Auto-save works like this: when LayOut crashes, it leaves files behind in the user's temporary directory. The next time LayOut runs, it presents these temporary files in the "Recovered Files" dialog. Since this happens automatically, it's a bit harder to know exactly what state your work is in.

So, to recover work, the first thing to do is to look for the backup file. If that's not present, or is too old to be useful, you can run LayOut and see what's available in the "Recovered Files" dialog.

    thanks,
    Marc

I reported this issue to SketchUp and they confirmed that angular dimensions are only respecting Paper Space and not Model Space.

You could make a transparent gradient in PS save as PNG and drag this in to LO then create a clipping mask - LO does a good job with transparencies.

Also, bounding box margins for text objects does not scale proportionally with font size. Small text boxes have a proportionally bigger size, compared to a bigger text box. Esp. Evident with text with background color/outline.

I try not to use text smaller than 8 pt, for that reason. It would be nice if that was fixed though...

The units and tolerances were set to the same precession in both programs? You've tested that the model is indeed precise to unit?

I've been having issue with magically changed scale. I complete a set and know I did it in 3/16" and come back later it's 1/8"

In layout there are two places where you can get styles from to use on your document:

1 - Sketchup model - wich it's symbol is the small house on the styles tab
2 - Styles Library - wich is any library you have/create on sketchup, if you keep adding styles from here with the same name, it will keep on adding them to your document but won't replace them... Maybe that's what's happening.

create a scene in skp that has the section lines not visible in the style dialog; save settings and use it as your style/scene in skp.

    Thanks,

But I found out it didn't work for me.

Changing the rendering method from raster to vector, did work for some strange reason (this also explains why exporting it as a .pdf does work and exporting it as an image doesn't).

Any idea how to solve the problem, especially for when I directly export images from sketchup?

I read your question, before I saw your second answer...
    You're absolutely correct...
With LO there's no need for a separate PDF-creation/printing software is needed...

Glad you found the solution... πŸ‘

This message means that something happened since the last auto-save which caused the document to become corrupt. Your best bet is to click "Yes" when this message appears, since this will recover the most recent auto-save. Then you should immediately save once the auto-saved file opens. This option to recover the most recent auto-save is new to LayOut 2014. If you use the default auto-save interval of 5 minutes, then you will have lost at most 5 minutes of work.

    Hi Joe-

Your most reliable way to get help directly from the SketchUp or LayOut teams is to post on our new support form at forums.sketchup.com. We do read through this forum but less regularly.

In any case, the only information I could extract from the crash reports you sent is that it's crashing while trying to send an image to the pdf export library. Does your LayOut file contain any images that you've imported?

    thanks,
    Marc
