Was really needed to rename New to Recent?
We didn't rename anything. Its the newer software's naming convention. We will take a look at URL slug
@rv1974 said in NEW Forum Software Issues:
I'd prefer 'edit' pencil button not to be buried in dropbox menu
So would I....will see if there's an option to customise button positions
@sashapepperspray said in NEW Forum Software Issues:
What happened to private messaging? (and how can I see my old ones)?
We still have the older forum. Private messages are not capable to be migrated so we'll provide a means to download your messages to CSV once we finish resolving issues here.

Hi there! I like the new look, but I can't find where to change my signature.
-
-
@alsomar Click your Avatar, top right and choose Edit Profile then scroll down to Signature and then to save changes.
-
-
@Rich-O-Brien doesn't look like there is an option to edit signature in the settings or profile areas (found via the vertical triple dots).
also, the "your posts" is called "best posts" - maybe call it "latest posts" or "recent posts" as i'm sure not all my most recent posts are the "best" ones

Did you try clicking on your profile image thumbnail on the upper right and clicking "edit profile" in the pull down menu?
-
@gullfo its unfortunate but this reputation is a way to circumvent spammers. Things are exposed after reach a certain reputation level.
I'll see if there's a way around without it resulting in an influx of Spam posts.
-
@gullfo if you make 3 more post the system will reward you added reputation.
With this added rep you should see more options to edit at your profile.
BTW, if you click a users avatar you see their rep and you can follow them
As for the best vs your post this is something I've noted to add once our login issues are resolved.

I don't have this option now, I think I had it in the old syle. Anyway, thank you for answering.
@Rich-O-Brien said in NEW Forum Software Issues:
@alsomar I believe you maybe behind the reputation system this newer forum uses.
So maybe @Box suggestion is unavailable to you. If you are unable to change it let me know and I'll see what we can do.
I'd be interested to know if you are able or not.
The option doesn't exist in my profile, so I gues I have a bad reputation

Its been a huge undertaking to get the old content into this newer system.
Wow, really promising so far..
I wonder if beta forum and old private messages will be retrieved later on or if they are lost.. -
@panixia For PMs we will offer a solution to download them as CSV files
All the forums are still there but with the sheer volume of permissions we had it was easier to just set some general permissions here. We will restore fully once this bedding in period lapses.
That said we will be nuking subforums and merging forums for better clarity.
So far we are happy with the reception. We were expecting some frustrations but @rv1974 is not happy unless he is unhappy
-
@Rich-O-Brien
That's fine, I was just wondering if any important stuff in messages could be lost.
I can wait for sure..
By the way this works pretty nice on the 4,5" screen of my phone.
The old forum was almost unusable. -
@Rich-O-Brien thanks. yeah that is one of my common suggestions when people ask how to reduce spamming - make people only contribute onto a limited number of threads (prefer the ones they start) and reach a number before their "probation" is over.
-
ok, that did it - adding 3 posts enabled the signature and site link options. will there be an option to add software information into the profile like SU version etc? or should that be part of the "about me" entries?
-
@gullfo That's the plan. The software itself is pretty barebones to begin with. So we will build it out as we go.
We need a more forward facing approach to a users setup because I don't want to have to visit an About Me section every time I need to know info.
-
@Rich-O-Brien like a hovering pop-up which includes the software versions so replying to assistance requests people can readily see the posited version info
-
@gullfo I am thinking we stick it in here...
Discreet and easily accessible. Hopefully as easy to do as it is to type it.
-
This is funny.
-
@Gus-R I've now downvoted your post and if others follow suit we can make that post more controversial than the previous. Stacking controversy on controversy....
