    Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

    please up load your model however a simple method is to split a counter into sections with if statements basic handle turn, then door.skp

    Rich - thank you for re-creating and posting your file. However, it gives me the same result that I am trying to resolve. I want to drag a text label off any of the groups within the parent and that text label must display the name of the parent, not the name of the group within the parent from which the text label is anchored to. I suppose the only solution is to have an unobtrusive unnamed object, such as a guide point, within the parent to attach my text label to.

    with a recent SU subscription licence tied to an email address (and not the discontinued classic licence w/ serial data): if resetting all devices via the Trimble AMP ("My Products > SketchUp Pro > ...") as well as logging out, closing/restarting SU, logging in fails, you may want try to delete the according SU license status file "login_session.dat" from: • Win: C;\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 20##\SketchUp\ • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/SketchUp20##/ ("Finder > Got To...") w/ the recent user name for "<User>" (Win) and the appropriate version numer for "20##"

    Have you reached out to Lumion staff with your issues? They have been super helpful for me in the past when I ran into hardware issues. I do not have any special settings that I have done with my GPU. Pretty much the default settings. if I remember correctly I just asked the lumion forum for advice on specific settings for my gpu and followed their diections to just change one or two setting to either off or on. I was not having any issues when I asked and did not see any changes in performance when I adjusted the settings. I would Highly recommend reaching out to the Lumion staff. p

    Yes, that importer will not create UVs for colour values materials in SketchUp. Ask your client to use ThruPaint to Replace Colours with Textures.

    Back face, front face?

    Many render engines will ignore back faces, this causes holes in your renders. 3d printers use the face orientation to know what is air and what is print media. I cannot think of a reason why having back faces painted and facing out, would be beneficial. Some times it can be useful to paint back faces because you want the inner space to be a colour or hide 'gaps' that can appear when edges are turned off, and transparent materials can be useful on back faces on occasion.

    If you're making progress your learning Isolate geometry into groups/components to make editing easier. Tag[Layer for the OGs] items to help organisation and visibility. Outliner is your friend if you stay organised and name things with some type of convention you can glance at. The most important key press in SketchUp is CTRL+S and 2nd most important is F1. Use both frequently.

    Yes, I have used (trial) Sketchfab in the past. It does have some neat features but it does not (to my knowledge) suppler animations (such as those created with Animator or dynamic components). You also have to upload your model to their site (as I remember). Maybe I am just way out of line on this topic. I just would like to see things move up to the next step.

    Dave's advice applies to CAD work in general. Setting up the file the way YOU want it from the start allows you to take of advantage of templates, other personalized digital materials and organization, and, particularly, the workflow that you've developed over the years. That's perhaps the greatest value and time saving in this sort of work. Compared to ready-made geometry, it pays off in the end.

    When I launch Thomas Thomassen's editable text tool, it pops up on the left monitor instead of the right one where I typically run SU. Can this be remedied? I have TT's library version 2.12.3. And can it be improved so we can immediately start typing into it without first having to deal with the default string of text that reads "Enter text"?
