Rich, It slows down rendering times and when you add a displacement map it will render slower. It wasn't terribly slow for these and I only did 100 passes with a Presto setting in Thea Render. Blender does have a lot of these features "out of the box" if not with a plug-in or Grasshopper. I got sidetracked late this spring when I was finally getting around to learn Blender using the well known doughnut tutorial by Blender Guru. I even got a small Inspiroy tablet for the brushes. Blender can seem a daunting at first given all the options that are available but of course that requires more focus on my part. Sketchup still seems a better option for straight ahead architectural work for now. That and my 23 year old Autocad ADT 3.3 that I'm still using for the bulk of my freelance work. Anything organic though and Blender would be the better option. Glad you like the shag carpet. Many a tiny screw or spring were lost in those even into the 1980s.

@mike amos said: You make Mr Kipling look like someone who can barely bake bread rather than 'Exceedingly good cakes'. Thanks, but you should see the portfolio of the guy who designed it.

Don’t know how you accomplish some of this stuff but it is really great.

@mike amos said: TBH, I have little clue about TM, still using Twilight render. Still playing with the settings and for example, saved the image as HDR and EXR (In Twilight render) to see what was what. Much more depth of lighting info in these file types but frankly I am clueless as to how to manipulate the result. It would certainly add a lot of time to the render process as both are pretty grainy. Twilight. Oops. My bad. Sigh, this is why I'm taking a break. Between the weather and seasonal allergies, I am not firing on all cylinders.

High level on a far off planet, or perhaps a sub teranean living space with a daulight level illumiation screen beyond the 'windows'. Alien world, a bit Outer limits perhaps. Two types of sky portal, one where you see the hdri image and a second which just directs the light values for the hdri minus the image. I sometimes use clay as you describe, it depends on how the mood takes me. Right now my pain levels are on the high side so I tend more to the experimental side and this series is adding one elements at a time a little bit more extreme than I usually do. I have a LOT of time to kill. [image: 21Ez_EmitterTypesTwilight.jpg]

It's good distraction from "&hit happens" which is a fair cop I suppose. Anything to put off a spell in a hotel with comfortable wallpaper.

Dead end on this scene. Still can't handle lots of vegetation.

Thank L i am! A photo reference does make a difference. I could not have done the country bridge scene without one.
