You would likely find it useful to set the text for text boxes and labels while you're at it. As TIG says, if you find you always need to change text size to something else for new projects, you should be making a template that is appropriate for your use. You can also sample an existing text box or other entity and apply its characteristics to new ones going forward by selecting the tool, Dimensions in your case, and hitting S. Click on the already modified dimension to sample it and go on with your dimensioning.

Nick, Would you have any of your scrapbooks publicly available? Seems like you've developed a nicely organized set. Beautiful work. Mark

Try opening the Layout program, not by selecting a layout file, but by opening from scratch. Typically when you do this layout will give you an option to recover crashed files. I haven't had Layout crash in a long time now, so I'm sorry, I can't answer your specific question. Nick

Make to components - one door closed, one door open - you can use make_unique to keep a lot of geometry the same. Ensure all of the components' contents are on Layer0. Place the two component instances over each other. Now set up two layers - I use the following names for clarity only - you choose - LayerOpen and LayerClosed. Assign the layers to the matching component-instance. Switch the 'LayerOpen' layer off so you only see the 'closed version. Save the view, with layers etc as a Scene-Tab. Repeat this swapping the ON/OFF layers so 'LayerClosed' is hidden and 'LayerOpen' shows. Save that as a different Scene-Tab. In Layout you can use these different Scene-Tabs in different 'viewports'... You can apply this to many aspects of your model... making things visible/hidden as you desire - learn to use Layers and Scene-Tabs effectively...

Resolved. Not entirely sure how but the only change I made was to remove all old files/directories left behind after uninstalling SU Pro on the old machine.

It would be pretty neat if they did put together slightly different versions with each one leaning towards a different usage, ie. construction drawings, or conceptual drawings, etc. Maybe even offer a Lite version and an "AutoDesk-esque " version if you will with all the bells and whistles

Vector rendering a 3d model is a slow process that won't be easily fixed. Layout can vector render 2d line work just as fast as any CAD program - instantly in fact. Vector rendering a 2d wall, requires the rendering of only 4 lines. Vector rendering a 3d wall has a minimum of 12 lines. This grows exponentially if you have trim, window and doors in the wall.

I have gone into SU and updated the scenes. Then went into Layout and updated the references. Now it looks much better. I will reset my workspace to get the styles window. Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it! R

Yes I was referring to batch printing. It may be one to add to the wishlist but I personally feel there are much more basic issues to be worked on in LO that may take at least a couple of upgrades before advanced printing was considered, but SU is "under new management" so we'll just have to wait and see on progress...

like gaieus said, (multiple) layers, and lock them or turn them off. the whole 'sticky' objects thing is annoying as all get out. imagine if sketchup worked this way...

No worries. It did seem like an old saying about trees and the forest would apply, though.
