Cool. I get it now, thanks. It takes forever to render if there's a lot of edges, but it makes for a really nice output when I set the Model Window output choice to either Vector or Hybrid (depending on the amount of surfaces) and set the Export/ Options quality to High. Jim

Control (or Command in Windows) Click on the view. Change scale in the contextual menu. You can also change scene, standard view, and perspective here. Note that if you are editing the view, scale will not come up. I'm still trying to figure out resolution.... Jim

You also can take a search fpr scrapebooks. In the German Version there is a de file which does'nt include these files. But the original path contains the scrapebook so we only have to set the right path. Maybe it is the same with you.

Hi David, Don1t forget that with GDocs you can also make presentations similar to PowerPoint and watch/present them online. Certainly a to-and-fro compatibility between different Google products would be nice. I could also imagine embedding videos into LO presentations and even exported PDF files (as you can embed videos into PDF1s now).

@gaieus said: To my best knowledge, you cannot do this. Paper size (and orientation) is a document level setting and you cannot change them at page level. I have seen "requests" for the same but with paper sizes. You could, however, rotate your shape in SU and fit it into a landscape paper... Thanks Gai, much appreciated, frustrating though.

That may be too large for SU and perhaps even for LO. SU with its OpenGL engine can only handle 2048x2048 pixel images (true however that it just gracefully degrades bigger ones to this display limitation). This can still affect memory usage but without the file I cannot say anything certain. (Maybe not even with the file).

Bj, Its when you pull the dimension up, there is an example of it at the top of the LO drawing. The dimensions are different. One is taken horizontally across the room, the other diagonally and pulled up. Normally the dimension adjusts to suit the width, in this case the dimension stays with the diagonal length. Hope I am making sense

I found that on a Mac, iWork, Numbers (spread sheet) works well,[image: PgaT_Picture79.png] It is not a "direct link" in that it is saved as a pdf, first, and I do not keep the "master file" in my scrapbook, as I want the schedules to be able to be modified. So there is a "master form" in my architectural "templates" folder, that I pull up, make the necessary inputs into, save that file as a pdf, insert it into my layout document, so that it can be "referenced" to in my "documents setup". so that when or if the schedules need to be updated, they will have to be opened in the iWork program, modified, saved as a new pdf, with the same name(I usually have an autosave copy of the original) so that the reference link stays alive and active... and that allows me to make changes and have an adaptive document... I am on my third set of working drawings, and it is getting to working better. aloha red

I think you can only disable it globally, not just for one viewport. However, you can always save a SU file (as..." at a particular time and insert that into one particular viewport and stop "developing" that version and work only on another version of the model. Theoretically you can insert as many SU files into LO as you want.

I don't have illustrator and I think it's not worth buying it only for that reason. In Sketchup, when you export to 3ds format, you have many options: I just wish they could develop a similar interface, when you export a pdf, in the next version of Layout.

If the problem is on a specific page, try this: copy the content of that page and paste it to a blank page in a new document, then save it. delete that page from you original document, and remake it again - importing (copy&paste) the saved data. This might fix it. Sometimes it worked for me. If, as I think, your problem is that the memory gets full, you may split your document in two or more parts. 25 pages are a lot for Layout. Have you tried it on another computer? Let me know. matteo

Here's another workaround for 2d shapes to scale in LayOut: Do all your drafting in SketchUp on the XY plane. Import into LayOut,and choose the desired scale. Render the model in vector, then use the "explode" command to convert the SketchUp model to LayOut native shapes. Depending on the complexity and overlapping of your shapes, you will have some level of cleanup (joining, splitting lines, etc..). But then you have LayOut shapes, to scale, and you were able to draw them relatively quickly in SketchUp. I realize this isn't exactly what you were going for. I've really wanted the same functionality in LayOut (and the guides tool, and the tape measure tool). This is how I've approached similar situations.

Hi Jonathan, Under File > Document setup > Paper, at the bottom there is the rendering setting. Leave "Edit quality" something lower or medium (for better performance) and set Output quality to high. When exporting to raster, High will be 300 dpi, medium 150 dpi and low 96 dpi (I think). Raster output is what it says; a simple image output. Vector is vector based but will not export textures just as colours. Hybrid will export edges as vector an textures as raster images.
