I see. It's different from the materials I've seen but I suppose it would be faster. This is the way I learned to do them. [image: miterdot.jpg] [image: Joints-Part-6-351.jpg]

@unknownuser said: Dave, your answer has nothing to do with the question. Gai, that's never stopped me before. Thanks. I need to get a new picture of him on a tractor. I think he was three or maybe just four when that picture was taken. He's 6 now.

Great job. I just made one myself recently. I bought a couple of hold downs from Rockler; I'm sure you could make some easily enough.

If you download them directly from the warehouse they don't open as components. I see that if you search from the Components browser they do insert as components.

If I didn't already have four jobs waiting to be completed, I would do it. It doesn't look like it is really all that difficult anyway.

If you're doing fancy veneering, good luck! This article will show you how to turn "Wood_Cherry_Original" into a variety of lighter and darker woods that work for models. http://www.MartinRinehart.com/models/tutorial/tutorial_ww_tip_01.html If your goal is a beautiful model, this isn't enough. If your goal is a beautiful finished piece, the model doesn't have to have perfect grains.

@eusibius2 said: Yeah - I agree, nice setup. Is that a phenolic top? And what kind of base plate is that? Looks familiar... Is that the one from Harbor Freight? I only ask 'cuz I'm building my router table now and I'm goin through all these questions. Mine's just a separate RT and TS though. Thanks! The top is plywood with Formica I bought from Lowe's. The sheet was damaged and I got it for $5. The router plate is plastic. I picked it up at a woodworking show many years ago so sorry, I don't remember who I bought it from. I do need to support the router top side as it's sagging a bit so the plate is in a hole. The saw was originally purchased by my grandfather, who was boat builder in New Orleans many years ago. My dad had the saw and never used it, so he gave it to me. In addition to the fence, I put a 1 1/2 hp motor on the saw and a Forrest WWII thin blade.

Beautiful desk, great model and very nice rendering. If I built this desk, I would leave out the center portion and plant that desk in front of a window with a peaceful view of the garden and while away my days contently. Best,
