@rob d said: Ok. Please don't shoot me down in flames for this, but my first impressions on seeing the newsletter were "wow, what a good idea". Then I started reading it and this soon changed to "Am I just being marketed to here?...". Did anyone else here feel this? It just seems very out of place when the reason a lot of people came here in preference to G Groups was that they wanted to avoid banner ads ?? Hi Rob, I think the main reason many people came here is because of the easy navigation and style of this forum. I'm 100% sure that if Google SketchUp had offered a similar replacement forum even with some side / banner adds very few would have moved. I use Gmail as one of my everyday email addresses and the little bit of unobtrusive advertising does not bother me in the slightest, in fact I often find it useful. Its a fantastic free email account and I would have paid for it! I doubt very much that this forum will survive on casual donations unless Coen decides to stop eating and take up residence in the local park! I am aware that he is presently running things on a shoe string, not easy going at all. I would have no objection if advertising was to become part of this site in the future allowing it to grow and further develop in the training / education fields of SketchUp and other related CAD programs. Having to 'put up' with a small amount of advertising would be a small price to pay for this. Nothing in life is free Mike

My old bricks are probably still out there, ruining vacuum cleaners somewhere. My Micronauts (who colonized my room throughout much of my youth) are still in my parent's attic though, awaiting my second childhood: http://www.bugeyedmonster.com/toys/micro/microplaysets.shtml http://www.innerspaceonline.com/megacity.htm ...except for the evil Baron Karza ( http://www.innerspaceonline.com/bk.htm ), who went to architecture school with me. He is currently sitting in my parlor on a copy of a Lebbeus Woods' Radical Reconstruction. posted by Lewis Wadsworth

@unknownuser said: Here in London we have a similar system in place now through a planning portal. We can get most forms by email and send documentation in either PDF or DXF to local councils who are participating. It has helped speed things up and streamlined the system a little bit. until you get a phone call a week down the line asking for paper copies becuase the Council plotter is broken!!! (i joke not) The only benefit to the architect is a saving in paper and ink. The Council prints off 6 copies when they receive them anyway. In the words of most planners "i can't work from PDFs, i like to see hard copies". I've found the whole process of the planning portal to be completely above and beyond the comprehension of most LAs

Hey guys, I am glad everyone likes it so far. As far as adding content I would have to get Ivica to chime in as he did this for me and now I am just maintaining it and adding new content. Scott
