Yes, it is a demo of gif animation. The demo in the animation, is of a karate style that has deep roots in jujitsu, hence the aikido like technique. The key to the technique is the timing to intercept the kick by the body while the kicking leg is still bent. Doing so while advancing, mutes the kick, and unbalances the kicker. It is then a simple matter to hook the attacking leg. Actually, the point of the demo was to show how important it is to walk naturally, while focusing your attention behind the attacker, and not on the position of the kick itself. The raw footage is from a video recorder filming at 30 fps. The animation plays back at 5 fps, providing the opportunity to take the technique apart. Until I animated the sequence, I had not noticed how the technique was executed. Martial arts training is such that you stumble through, eventually getting it by perseverance. Sometimes I think that its the stumbling that's important, not the technique itself.

Also, if you go to that person's photostream, just start typing in the search box in the upper right corner. It should prompt you if you want to search in everyone's photos (default) or just in John Jameson's photos. It gives other options as well, but in your case you would choose just John Jameson's photos. Chris

@ Tim I mean WWW is not owned by a single entity. All those companies you mention are replaceable. And the same is true about those parts that are patented or copyright protected; something Berners-Lee refused for html. I guess something similar happened with JavaScript. These languages are then free just like the spoken ones. Apple decided not to include floppy disk drives in one of their computers and it seems everyone else followed suit. I'm not saying the decision was wrong just that in pursuit of the cloud other local storage devices might just go the same way, fait accompli. Yes the net has become terribly concentrated and will become more so as less companies control bigger server farms, just as, in its case because of all the failures, the financial sector has become more concentrated than ever before. I think the problem is when the general public get mixed up in things corporate, which is true with server farms. If banks were able to add personal mortgages to unrelated instruments in their derivatives, maybe IT can do something similar with access to information. Then if one farm or corporation went down all may be affected like the Japanese national grid after the Fukushima tsunami or any of the other OP concerns. I think your idea of distributing information is well worth discussing (even though you spelled PRON wrongly).

We had a a typical 4th with BBQ and fireworks with friends. But as someone mentioned we did talk a little about the meaning. I think the legacy of the Declaration of Independence (and the Bill of Rights) is for all people (the Enlightenment just didn't happen here, the colonies just had the opportunity). Now Liu Xiaobo is in prison, like others, for supporting Charter 08, proclaiming the same unalienable rights. We should appreciate today's freedom fighters on days like this. Charter 08 http://www.hrichina.org/public/contents/press?revision_id=89851&item_id=85717 As we raised a beer, we also reflected how the right to the "pursuit of happiness" was not just a throw-away phrase for the revolutionaries.

Does the name Barry Madoff ring a bell? He was sentenced to 150 years for running, essentially, a ponzi scheme involving about $65 billion. I'd call that justice. In the case to which you referred, it doesn't say what portion of the $3 billion that the CEO, Paul Allen, actually kept. Also, the fact that his crime was not a violent crime makes a huge difference.

@unknownuser said: Marcus, perhaps your question could have been better worded (as it relates to architecture)... Great explanation, Daniel...I suspected something about my approach was wrong by the overwhelming response I think I was asking too many questions all at once, as well. I guess I am asking about contractors like Adam (Earthmover), where he is competing directly against other contractors, and having a nice 3D render when going to deliver the bid will result in him closing more sales (vs. other contractors that just have a line drawing plan.) I guess most smaller firms don't have the time or knowledge to create such a model, and if that's the case, I could sell to them. One thing I've found is that smaller firms often don't think they have the budget for renders, but if I can show added value, I'm thinking they may try and like the service. Am I onto something, or just on something? Re diversifying, I'm really interested in modeling for 3D printing, and I'm working on some things there as well, but I'm not yet sure what my target audience is. Perhaps producing pieces of my own to sell? ...math art and 3D printing sound like a neat combination... I haven't looked in those 3D magazines, thanks for that and your other tips. BTW, I hope I don't come across as trying to advertise myself on this forum, I'm simply looking for advice. I don't want to step on any toes, especially those that have been here much longer than mine...lol
