Meanwhile on the reverse side. Spinning my wheels with all this professionally. All spent with Upwork which hasn't gone anywhere. Over 30 "proposals" and not a single job from Upwork and you have to pay for those proposals. Making a few bucks off some work from Facebook. People don't even want to spend what I used to charge in the late 2000's. I have a couple of regular clients in the real world. Oh well. At least I can still make pretty pictures. Thanks folks, the light levels in the second render were raised in Irfanview. Handy little app.

It as if Father Ted and The Hobbit had a spinoff series. The image itself looks very CG. The lack of bevels and the overuse of busy patterns give it an unrealistic appearance. The HDR/Background Image is too low res which adds to the CG feel. Not my cup of tea but if you're chuffed with the result then that's all that matters.

Thank you! @hornoxx said: But what I have learned from Dave's "sleeplessness " is to use more consistently the options of sketchy styles. I now do this regularly in communication graphics in the early stages of a project to avoid pointless and nurdish detail-blabla. I do that, too. Often when I am designing a piece of furniture, I find it useful to include details that I don't want to show the client, at least in the early stages of the design. Sketchy styles (even the native Straight styles) can be used to do that.

@majid said: Great stuff. Is there any way to prevent repetitive ground texture ? i.e. combining 2 or more layers of materials masking using an organic texture? (This is the way Kerkythea, Thea and V-ray does) Thanks. To answer the question, there may be, but I do not know what the trick is yet. For the wall texture, I enlarged the material. That works sometimes. For the paving, I shrank the material and this unfortunately amplified the repeat. Yet the pavers were obviously too large to start with and had to be shrunk. I'm still experimenting, which is what all my recent renders have really been about.
