Jeff & Daniel, lol. Imagine the scene, the wife walk in and I'm stood their painting happy trees, a big mop of Bob Ross hair and mustache....she would soon have me sectioned! llonghi & Cherryni, thank you. TIG. Thanks, I enjoy reading the history of these buildings almost as much as modeling them. John

In addition to the above comments, I'll offer some advice from a former professor in regards to presenting retail designs: Show more people. Your client does not want to spend a fortune developing a project only to see it empty.

@tld said: @unknownuser said: TLD, could you post your IR and LC settings? Sure i would. Been a while since I worked on this particular project. I would revisit it and attempt to recreate the view (hoping I get the same result or better) and put up the requested settings. Hope these help [image: kQQ0_IR.jpg] [image: M3hG_LC.jpg]

@tig said: I worked on a similar 'Calcomp IGS 500' setup at the very same time - it was in the UK [it was the 1st CAD installation in England!]... By the late 80s I was working on 'Silicon Graphics Indigos' using 'Sonata' [the grandpa of Revit]... The digitizers were Calcomp, but the equipment was manufactured by a California company, which was purchased by GE around 1979.

If I where modelling this, I'd add the bevel. Naturally also a treatment with artisan. Also topology was a mess. Here is some good reference photos, if you still need http://tiinaliisak.wordpress.com/2011/03/30/jasper-johns-light-bulb-vs-harri-koskinen-block-lamp/

You're right, no help, but no matter. You did the job with what you had and it came out beautifully. It looks like it would have been made easier by having smoother, more consistent arcs, but that is something looking at your model made me focus on: the plugin workhorses seem to like it that way and that is something I need to learn, esp. good 3d arcs. The easiest, simplest path was for me 3 tangent arcs, welded, with a tangent line for the spout.

I was browsing and noticed a very familiar logo from my youth, the Spar logo, then noticed you are South African. Great stuff, nice to see more Saffers on SCF.

Getting there Dave. As they say, "the devil is in the details" and that is where the other 20% should be focused. Its the little things that add to a more photoreal render. Some obvious things are better grass, texture that are higher resolution and that don't tile as bad, more detail into the house itself, lower the beds to create an obvious bed edge, better reflection and transparency, bump maps and doing a bit of post work in photoshop. Best of luck..you definitely have a good starting point.
