Hi your main problems are coming from tone mapping and exposure, if you adjust your image so its correctly exposed before you start adjusting material properties you will get a much better render. Im a bit out of practice with Vray but in Vray for 3dsmax you can adjust your exposure in the camera settings using tradition camera settings like F-stop and shutter etc.

Not very good at finishing stuff. This is another fighter, with big guns and a really shiny blue paint job. About 20m long with 4 auxiliary turrets. The inside isn't finished. I have been trying to put together a ship for the eve contest. All of these are not in style or within the rules. I have been playing as minmatar for 6 months. They have ships that are mostly ugly but some that are really nice. I need to get a workflow down. I might try for the prize but after that I am all shipped out and will probably switch to castles again, all these new plugins need some application in my old models. @ken28875 said: You have some pretty cool models. Did you build everything from scratch? I particularly like the interior models. That would be nice to see them textured and rendered with Vray. You can get a free 30 day trial from their website. http://software.asgvis.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=298&Itemid=233 Thank you ^^, oh those 3 interior scene models i borrow from 3d warehouse ^^, for that industrial factory too. I call it manipulation art. Yeah i know about free 30 day trials, but you see i working with pc made from wood, so i afraid that it can explode one day.. Ups i forget to add couple "abstract" images. It was rendered in Kerkythea using MLT. I had all the point lights set to produce soft shadows so not sure why they came out so harsh. Maybe I should be using spots rather than point lights or maybe it's something I'm missing. Agree with point about empty room - I just threw it together to practice rendering so didn't spend too long on it. Thanks for comments.

@d12dozr said: You can also export a Hidden Line view from Sketchup with the same view as the render, and overlay it in Photoshop (or similar software) using 'Screen' to allow only the black lines show. Thank you, I didn't thought about that possibility, it doesn't look to difficult to do. I'm gonna try. @d12dozr said: Solo has set up a 'Render This' challenge here. Hopefully this will help you get started rendering and give you some more ideas That's awesome, Thank you.

Bonjour Frederic, Very nice render. I like it a lot. Sketchup UV mapping is pretty bad, but you bed blanket and pillows look really nice. May I ask how you did the textures for them? I would appreciate if you could share them. Merci beaucoup et bonne journee! _KN p.s. I checked out your website. Really nice images. Which ones are real pictures and which ones are 3D renders???

Cool render, Oliver. a few suggestions: You might want to fix the shadows. The shadows of the people on the left don't quite match the ones on the right. Looks like you have two , one on the left and one on the right. Also, play with the colors and saturation to make the people merge better with the scene. One more thing: the shadow of the tree on the building on the left side seems a little bit too dark. Try to make it a tad lighter and maybe softer. Best, _KN

Very realistic and believable. I see three areas that you may wish to tweak. The hanging towels seem a little too crispy for the overall lighting. Perhaps the sconce parabolic light pattern needs to soften or diffuse where it strikes the wall? And the rug edge may need some "fur" overlap to soften it as well. But, because everything else in the room has such clean lines, I am almost hesitant to say these things. By the way, what would the water closet look like in this fixture set?

@mitcorb said: I am guessing you would want to work on that crisp shadow cast by the building onto the "distant trees". Edit. I can't say I would do any better, however. The backdrop trees are just a photo on a "flat". They really should be replaced by modeled trees or something else if anyone has suggestions? The foreground trees were made with RpTreemaker in SketchUp. I'm still getting the hang of that plug-in. Yeah, the sky isn't what I wanted and the shadows are "off" as well. But hey, I'll get the hang of it eventually. My current priority is still mastering SketchUp itself.
