Thanks Ross, The budget for this shop is "as cheap as possible". 'Makuti' thatch is made from coconut palm leaves and is as cheap as roof coverings come here. The whole construction should cost approx US$4,000. The charity is called Love Shack as it cares for Sick, Homeless and Abandoned Children in Kenya. The large sign on the wall is maybe not such a great idea, looking at it now I see what you mean about a sex shop. Don't want to get gimps and doggers in there do we? A small subtle sign by the door should suffice. I'll be sure to post the pics when the building is done. Cheers, Ed

Hi Modelhead, Im kinda familiar with your name, didnt you just had an avatar or picture of a rear baldman's head? Well this is my family and thank you for your comment. I just have to crop it so it could fit in the requirement of the being sqaure. Thats my wife and my baby girl, the big one is my niece and the one cropped is suppose to be my nephew. I like that picture so much, we were playing around with my brand new laptop back then. I like warm families. Thats the reason I dont work on saturdays. Saturdays are for family (or friends, relatives or sometimes just spending time for yourself), Sundays are resting & reflections, so Im fueled for the incoming weekdays again. I dont encourage this to everyone, im still a workaholic but Id like to suppress that "holic" thing just up to friday 11:59pm. Its not perfect because there are times that I have to work extra hard for the weekends for a presentation and deadlines...... Try it for a week or two....then see for yourself.... but like I said also, its not for everyone.... and f.y.i., the picture was taken on a saturday evening while were watching a disney movie. happy weekends. Tesmeko please have a comment or two on my render. I badly need assistance. I cant show these to my clients.

What is the floor material on the last 2 renderings? It looks like asphalt... or maybe it's just my screen. They also look really 'sharp' as if you didn't use anti-aliasing to give it a softer appearance...

Discovered the "walkthrough animation" in Kerkythea yesterday. This is my first animation test. Scene has 481 frames, rendertime about 9 hours. Kerkythea is great! I am currently working my way through the gallery. and your robot is one of the gems here! beautyful indeed. I second Coens wish to see more images - I would love to see some details of the joints. look really great. did you get your inspiration from somewhere? or are you working with robots in your daily work? would very much like to see your other designs as well...

I am new to Sketch up and a landscape architect in NJ. The images you posted look amazing and I would love to achieve that level. Can you walk me through your process. I am using Auto Cad. Thanks for your help and great work. Marc marc_nissim@yahoo.com

Very interesting Thingymajig, The first thing I thought of when I saw it was a tree with a forest fire coming towards it. Cool!

@schreiberbike said: I'm really taken with the first chair, the one with the back slats coming separately off of the rear support. Is that an existing chair, or is that your own design? If not you, do you know who designed/made that? I really don't know who designed that,I just made a reference of this image. [image: 2q011255a4.jpg] And another angle of my model. It is very impressive work, but I always come back to the question: What's the purpose for the graphic. (Insert almost anything to replace graphic.) Artistically, I like the sepia tones and the softer images, but if it were a concept for a house I might have built, I'd need to be able to see the lines more clearly and to see how the lines of the house fit into the lines of the landscape. Natural colors will change and the architectural colors can be chosen further down the road. I also doubt I'll ever park a pink car in my drive. But like my comments above, that's just my personal preference.

Pete, I'm using DE 5.04 and tried your method of converting a .skp to .3ds. When I import into Vue, I get an error stating that the .3ds format is obsolete and that the materials may not be correctly converted. When I choose to import anyway, I indeed get some weird UV screw up that jumbles up my textures. Any clue why this is? Would an upgrade to 5.5 solve this issue? Also, is the .3ds convert/import preferable in your opinion to the .obj export from sketchup that Chipp Walters recommends? I'm excited for your Sketchup to Vue tutorial, as I think Vue fits my line of work (landscape designer) better than any other renderer out there.
