Thanks!
I am considering buying one with their current discounts, so I don't have enough time to properly trial both.
Would I need Vertex Tools to take advantage of SubD advantage?
Thanks!

Hello,
I am considering to buy either the Subd or the Artisan extention, to try out Subdivision Modeling with SketchUp. What are the pros and cons of each one? Which one is the easiest to learn and use?
Thanks
I have the 8th gen ipad and it crashes every time I try to open a 400MB skp file.
Is this normal? I am given a warning at the beginning that the file is big, but I also get a similar warning on my Android tablet, but that one can open the file.
Would an iPad pro be much better with the Sketchup viewer?
Now i did Thanks. Esc brings you one level up. If I am several levels deep is there a shortcut to escape from all of them, or I should press Esc several times?
I usually double click in an empty space, but sometimes there is no empty space to click on (when I am working on an interior). Another way is to click on the "root element" in the outliner, but I would prefer if there is a faster way, like a keyboard shortcut.
There must be a very simple way to do this!
Thanks
Seems like Google doesn't have much use of SketchUp anymore. Maybe they will develop their own basic app for creating models for Google Earth, or maybe they even decided not to invest in that department anymore since Street View can probably offer more realistic results and fits their needs better.
Personally I don't see SU being further developed with the average user in mind. Maybe we will see SU9, and after that SU will be adapted to fit the industries that Trimble cares about.
No for-profit company is "philanthropic". In the case of Google the average internet user is part of their client base, since it is the average internet users who generate most profits for Google by clicking on Goolge ads. So Google can indirectly profit by being seen as "philanthropic" by the average internet user. On the other hand Trimble has nothing to gain from being "philanthropic" in this way, so I don't expect them to be.
I had a similar issue some time ago. In my case I didn't need to explode all nested elements, just the inner one where the image is. I am guessing that this is what Gaieus meant when he said "do not explode the component though but edit and explode the image inside". Seems like you just didn't go "deep" enough when you tried the first time, so my guess is that you don't need to explode 3 times, but just once on the inner nested element which is the image entity. Doing it this way you maintain the advantages of a component.
Thanks! Seems like a nice app. Strange that it is not mentioned more ofter here.
EscapeArtist, I assume you were using the 3G version of iPad which has GPS and that the WiFi only wouldn't work with AR.
Anybody used this app with Android? I am planning to buy a tablet but I don't want to pay for the 3G version of iPad to get GPS since I don't really need 3G.
Thanks!
From what I understand you can load models directly and not just from 3D Warehouse, right? And is that 10mb a limit of the application or you mean that this is how much the iphone - ipad can handle?
Hello,
How many people are using this app? It is also available for Android now.
How well does the AR work, and whats the maximum skp file that a 1GHz dual core tablet can handle?
Thanks!
Is this a GPU based render engine? What are the system requirements? What are the limits of the trial downloads?
My opinion continues to be that there should be an open sub-section at the Maxwell forums for the users of the free plugin. It could be made clear that no official support will be provided in this section but only peer support, like it exists in this forum. It would cost practically nothing to the company.
Failing that, and since filling this section of this forum with Maxwell related questions doesn't seem right, maybe somebody should start an "Unofficial Maxwell for SU forum". I have a dedicated server and I am running another phpbb forum on it, but since I am a newbie of Maxwell and rendering in general I am probably not the ideal person to do such thing.
wiadevaia, maybe you can try this:

Wait doesn't this exist already ? Or is it only in the render suite version ? I am looking at the pencil (edit) button in the middle at the bottom.
The MXM mode and the character mode are separate. If you have MXED you can click that button to edit an MXM material you applied earlier but you can not edit in MXED a material you created using Sketchup materials and the character mode of the plugin.

Here's a little plugin to configure components from the context menu: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=35667
Looks good
Hello,
How can I transform a component which is already created into a face-me component? Do I have to explode the non face-me component and then recreate it as a face-me component, or there is a faster way?
Thanks
Thanks. That is how I solved the problem (deleting the files in the temp directory).
Was my conclusion correct that this happens only to MXMs that are stored in a different than the default location? Or it can happen regardless where the MXMs are stored? (because if storing the MXMs in the default location would solve the problem then I would do that and not worry about anything else)
I have another question.
I downloaded some MXMs from the Maxwell Resources, but instead of storing them in my C drive (small SSD) I store them on another drive. I added the directory that those MXMs are stored in the "Search Paths".
At some point I had the issue that although I had one MXM applied to a certain surface, the texture of a different MXM was rendered instead. That other MXM had been applied in a different session on a different surface and had since been deleted. After a bit of research, I found out that the two MXMs were using textures that had the same name. Maxwell seems to copy those textures in the "C:/Users/Username/Documents/Maxwell/SketchUp/temp/textures" directory and it is using the textures from this directory instead of the directory that the MXMs were downloaded to. This seems to happen only for the MXMs that are not stored in the default location. So when two MXMs have textures of the same name the issue I describe above happens.
Either I am doing something wrong or there is a bug with the plugin or I downloaded some bad materials.
I think it would be a good idea to have a subforum for Maxwell, especially now that there is a free plugin for Skethup and the users of this free plugin can not post in the Maxwell forum.
