SubD vs Artisan
-
Hello,
I am considering to buy either the Subd or the Artisan extention, to try out Subdivision Modeling with SketchUp. What are the pros and cons of each one? Which one is the easiest to learn and use?
Thanks

Both have trials.
Artisan does not support pseudo-Quads that SUbD is built around. SUbD does not have sculpting capabilities.
If it is pure quad based modelling you want to try then SUbD + Vertex Tools is the way to go.
If it is a mixture of proxy modelling with some sculpt and vertex manipulation then Artisan.
If your pockets can take the hit then both. Devs love and deserve support!

Thanks!
I am considering buying one with their current discounts, so I don't have enough time to properly trial both.
Would I need Vertex Tools to take advantage of SubD advantage?

Yes i you want move Points individualy or by selection)!
Free QuadFace tools by Thom is also very complementary!
You have also a very basic subD tool (but free) : SketchUp Loop Subdivision by Guitar-List
