Hi Bob, I was reading about this a few weeks ago but was not aware of their site. Looks like it going to be a runner or should I say floater I have always thought that I would not mind taking a few days traveling to the USA and keeping my body clock some way synced. It could be an enjoyable flight in Summertime. Don't know about Wintertime with the bad weather over the Atlantic. However it looks like its first market is going to be the military. Didn't realise about the wasteful helium balloons! Then again we are misusing natural resources at a savage rate. Look at all the wasteful plastic packaging? Mike

Solid Thinking is great piece of software. It is nurbs modeller with fantastic history layering system. I am not aware of ability to import directly SU. I was considering it for my product designers but decided on SolidWorks instead. I am finding that nurbs and meshes from SU are not always compatible. SU can produce meshes with a lot of small holes which for instance Rhino can import but model is usually not very useful. With Rhino there is comand to covert meshes to nurbs but topology is not always predictable. So better way to import SU models to SolidWorks and Rhino is via T-splines with corrected topology in 3d Coat. If the purpose of the modeller is product design I would not bother with SU. Small details create problems in meshes. OK I know you can scale it up and than reduce but still ... I would model in industry standard software such as SolidWorks , Engineer Pro, Solid Thinking etc.... If you want model architecture SU is good enough or if you want high poly and better quality model than try Rhino. It is very intuitive and very powerfull software. It produces clean geometry good enough for production and you can render with Thea or Vray ....Sorry for moving away from the main topic...

That featured on an episode of Grand Designs. For me, the finished building is an architectural tour-de-force, but does not appeal as a home.

Dear David, The wheel of lines has no significance. The number of lines can be easily increased/decreased according to need, and making the angular spacing regular just helps with construction. The ensemble makes a compact symbol, and one could even label the lines if one wanted the extra clarity. This is done by double clicking on the end of each line with the Text tool. The lines are each 5 mm long, so the whole thing is quite small. It doesn't get in the way if it is locked and hidden. Saving it as a component for reuse might have benefits if one uses the same layer structure, although when I tried to import it into one model it complained and said that it couldn't import an empty component. Both the Layers and the Outliner tools need serious work. For example, there should be an update button so that one can make changes, and then hit update. Currently, changes are made as soon as one hits the return key. This can be quite irritating with big models (lots of groups and components) where one might want to edit contiguous entries in Outliner. The Entities dialogue box needs hitting with a hammer. Its tendency to autofill with script from a previous edit is enough to drive one mad. Rant over! Regards, Bob [image: OOBJ_Layerpurgecontrol.JPG]
