I cant say I have tried this before in any of the versions, but I just test and indeed it doesn't work. I would shoot Dale and email.

RE: Material ID Shows Up All Black
Are you using GPU rendering? If so, you cant get a MatID with GPU - yet.
If you arent using GPU - try to regenerate the IDS - Extensions-VRay-Tools-RandomizeProjectMaterialIds

RE: I made V-Ray 3.4 work in SketchUp 2018
Step 1 - go to Chaos Group site
Step 2 - PAY for your software!
Step 3 - Be a productive member of the SketchUp community -
RE: No Import OBJ
If you are ok with spending a few bucks, FluidImporter Lite imports OBJ and works really well.

RE: SU18 | VR3.6 - your comments please?
Someone would definitely pay for 3d graphics like this. It just needs to be the right customer and a fair price I would think.

RE: Trying to import vismat file
Beware that old vismats - especially from version 1 (dear God version 1) will just cause issues in 3.x
Start fresh or use the library that VRay comes with.

RE: Vray Render Settings for Epoxy Floor (Help Pls)
You shouldnt always depend on a vismat to create materials. Go to Youtube and watch a couple of basic tutorials. An epoxy floor seems to be pretty easy to setup. Look at photos on the web and then understand what parameters will get you that look.
Seems that you need a base diffuse and then maybe just up the reflection on it as epoxy floors are very glossy.
http://www.cgtextures.com might have a good diffuse you can use.

Will we see support for VRay anytime in the future?

Hello,
I've used MSPhysics for a simulation on my project, and now, even after disabled the plugin, my model keeps with a "Created with MSPhysics 1.0.3" message on the upper left corner, and i can't manage to remove it.
There's a layer called MSPWatermarkText - just turn it off

RE: Will SketchUp Ever Wear Big Boy Pants?
I just read that Apple with deprecate OpenGL in Mojave... so maybe a rebuild will be on the way?

Well I guess most of us aren't happy with sketchup, yet I find it very useful and am happy with it, even with all the limitations it has.
For what I do, I am 95% happy with SketchUp and I don't ever see myself not being a user but I would like to push on the topic of why can't the viewport handle (even with the beefiest of GPUs) a high polygon model imported into it?
That's all I am asking in this thread. It has been proven by dozens of pieces of software that it can be done. Why can't SketchUp do it, and why can't that issue be fixed? Remember when we were stuck in 32bit? That was addressed (thank God).
This is the next big fix, and I say "fix", not a feature, not a plugin, not a new UI or redesign, a FIX. Because as far as I am concerned it's a bug. Without enough understanding of the technology, I honestly wonder if it is an OpenGL thing.

RE: All kinds of error messages
Which version of VRay and SketchUp? If you are on the latest version, head over to the Chaos Forums. They are a little more active then these VRay forums these days and someone from Chaos might be able to help.

You probably have some broken links to your image file. Luckily V-ray has a tool for archiving and repathing your images. under extensions look for v-ray>file path editor. this will help you fix the offending textures.
Just had it happen to me last week and this is the correct solution. There was a map that could not be located on the network.

Perhaps the 'big boy pants' are more flexible than you think.
Nope. Import a hi poly model of a car and SU craps itself.

I guess we wait for the day that Autodesk makes Trimble an offer they cant refuse and then we all die a little inside that day.
Lol! You want to pay all your subscription fees to Autodesk, don't you

I's prefer to pay fees to a company with a soul, like the SketchUp team. Just really need to push things to the next level and in order to do that, I need MORE POLYS!!!

RE: Best graphics card for vray?
I assume you plan on using GPU rendering in V-Ray and understand it has a couple of limitations at the moment. I would suggest getting a 1080ti or more than one if you can afford it and your workstation allows it. The prices have come down a little as there was a little bit of pricing bubble for a while due to cryptocurrency farming.
This will set you up nicely for VRay, VRay Next as well as any VR technology you might dabble with in the future such as VRay for Unreal, etc.
