    • RE: UI.openURL(executable + params)

      Thanks Azuby,
      Don't worry. I am not familiar with MACs at all. You are simply at the much higher level of programming then me, so most of what you are writing sounds like a Chinese to me πŸ˜„ I simply would like to start Kerkythea on MAC with start.kst file as a parameter (file to be opened when KT starts).
      By the way, next version of KT is expected in few months and it will be available for MAC!
      It is what Giannis says.

      Thanks Whaat,
      I have done some investigation and the line in the batch file should look like:
      start "" "C:\Program Files\Kerkythea\Kerkythea.exe" "start.kst"
      Now it works (PC only 😞 )!

    • RE: UI.openURL(executable + params)

      Thanks Lads,

      Azuby has killed me, I hope I will recover soon πŸ˜„.
      I need to run Kerkythea.exe (on Mac kerkythea) with single parameter (KT script file name).
      On PC I create separate start.bat file containing :
      kerkyhea.exe start.kst

      Then I run this batch using UI.openURL(C:\start.bat) which opens command line window, starts batch file and finally opens KT. 'Dos' window is visible in the background so it is not clean solution.

      Azuby - how it will look using your backtick? πŸ˜†

    • UI.openURL(executable + params)

      Hi All,

      I wonder if there is way to pass parameters to an executable directly through
      UI.openURL("C:\format.exe /Y c:") πŸ˜† ? The example unfortunately doesn't work although I have copied format.exe to root directory πŸ˜„ 8O I use DOS batch file but it is not compatible with MAC.

      Related question to MAC users. What extension have executables on MAC and how should look proper UI.openURL(.....) for MAC?

      Cheers

    • RE: UI Messagebox within LMB method of a tool

      I have found it! Silly me. I have placed view.invalidate at the end of draw method 😳

      def draw(view)

      	if( @ip1.valid? )
      		if( @ip1.display? )
      			@ip1.draw(view)
      			@drawn = true
      		end
      	end
      	if( @ip2.valid? )
      		@ip2.draw(view) if( @ip2.display?)
      		self.draw_geometry(@ip1.position, @ip2.position, view)
      		view.invalidate #WRONG!
      		@drawn = true
      	end
      end

      Each time UI.messagebox was invoked SU called draw method which erased MB from the view.
      Thanks

    • RE: UI Messagebox within LMB method of a tool

      Draw method is also executed when you open Messagebox within the method πŸ˜„.

      I have placed UI.mb in LMB method and it was not displayed. It was invisible but present, awaiting for user input. I cannot validate the view during UI.mb. Todd how have you achieved it? πŸ˜„
      I am still new to Tools methods so I could have done sth wrong.

    • RE: UI Messagebox within LMB method of a tool

      I have found solution. I had to move UI.messagebox to draw method.
      If you display UI.messagebox in draw method it will be invoked twice
      if not suppressed earlier

      if displayed==false
      displayed=true #to prevent second execution of whole if-end section
      UI.messagebox "Hello world!"
      displayed=false
      end

      vI have no idea how to make messagebox 😒 displayed within create method of a tool.
      It is working but it is not visible. Sad I am afraid there is no solution.

    • Separate DPI for screen and printing

      I would like to have an option to define two independent resolutions for:

      • screen (say 75dpi - for easy, faster editing and smaller layout file size)
      • printing (say 300dpi)
        I have found it quite irritating when having to switch back and forth resolutions
        when editing and printing.

      Hello Howard,
      I am glad I am the first who has come with rescue (there are plenty of experienced Ruby masters over here πŸ˜„ ).
      Here is my small script. I have tested it and it works fine. It un-hides all drawing elements (not only edges but also faces, groups and components).

      Cheers

      Maybe we could get CPhillips to add animation exporting to SketchyPhysics.

      We have already talked about it. I believe we will work out something.
      After seeing your post I will set higher priority for this feature πŸ˜„

      Yep. It will be no difference if you will paint front or back. It is really helpful especially when talking about transparent faces.

      the render engine will render the front face regardless which way it faces.

      It will happen in SU2KT 2.3, which will be available soon, as long as only one face will be painted.
