This is just to show that TIG's V1.8 works well with quite complex shapes (I have posted this before, but what the heck!).

The below images show the volume slices for a 1% accuracy volume calculation, which took many minutes to complete.

I still believe that adding methods like this, belong in a community project, like SKX. (I still have hopes of reviving that project, or starting a similar one.)

Well than it most be my Sketchup set up. Here is how I was using the program.

I have a program that will add thickness to a face. I use it to make 1/4" steel plates out of faces. When I tried the program "volume", it would not give me the volume of any of the thicken faces. The thicken faces are made as components.

So I made one box, copied the box, made one box a group and the other a component. On the entry info menu, they both had the same indicated volume.

However, right clicking on the group would give me the correct volume, right clicking on the component the program wouldn't responded. I am trying to get rid of all the unnecessary programs that use the context menu. So I opened your program for editing, disabled the context menu and activated the plugin menu. And tried again, now I could get a volume on groups and components. Now, that I had have time to think about it, I guess it is the old gray out problem. I just didn't think it would be that sensitive, to notice the difference between a group and a component. There was nothing else in the file, just the two boxes.

So now, I have the context menu disable, the plugin is activated and I have added it to my working tool bar by making a icon and adding the tool bar code.

So right now, it is working great. I guess I was just surprised that the context menu was sensitive to the type of geometry clicked on.

Sorry to have you work on something that I should of realized was a problem with my set up.

New sloping fascia and/or sloping soffit options are well advanced and are now in beta testing: only the gable version with all of its permutations for two sloping soffits and gables is proving a pain to debug...

Also looking at allowing heights for gable and pyramid roofs in ^5'4" format as well as existing ^5.3333333 or ^64 depending on units etc...

Also looking at 'Set Slope', which is like the 'Get Slope' tool, but it changes a selected roof face to the given slope (degrees or A:B)...

Also looking at an 'Add Detail' tool so you can add gutters, mouldings, ridges etc to a roof's selected edges; you can also customize the profiles by adding your own - watch this space...

Also preparing new help docs to go with all of this....

I am trialling Deep Exploration at the moment. It converts dwg to skp complete with text! (something Sketchup cant do currently) so I am happy that I can now get dwg into Sketchup.

EXPORTING - still a problem!

I need to use text-tag because 'normal' text wont stay flat . . but I cant give copies of drawings to other consultants as dwg without losing text or dimensions.

Oh I do wish the SU team would sort this mess out.

The DXF Export of TextTags is still WIP. Needs a long stint of effort to read TextTags' attributes and make into MText definition and then add that to a DXF file etc...

SketchUp DOES Export TextTags as dwg or dxf (They come in as blocks - but are shapes rather than text - so later editing is NOT possible), BUT if you have the 'filled' version (without visible edges) they don't show up in some AutoCAD view style settings.

To help with this I have adjusted the 'Filled' setting for TextTags to Yes= filled, with NO edges; Yes+Edges= filled, WITH edges and No= Edges and NO faces... Then they do show up in the exported dwg in most 'styles' if they have edges set...

If you are using Layout you are better off doing your text in Layout.
This is a pretty old tool! Try my 2dTools 2dText - it's much more flexible than this old thing... BUT the size is fixed height - you can make it sat 100mm and then make three copies scaled at x2 and x3 use layers called TEXT-100, TEXT-200 and TEXT-300 etc. Put copies on different layers and have only one layer on in a scene-view. Then you can switch the layers as needed so text size seems to varying. 2dText is a 'component' so making layered copies means you can edit one and they'll all change across the layers and the scaling will be kept too... 🤓

@TIG Fantastic, THANK you so much, this ruby is one of the oldest (almost 20 years!) and most usable ones.
Maybe on 20th Anniversary multiple paths support will be added, who knows..
