I'll PM TIG about the brick generator idea, that's if he doesn't get here first.

RE: AutoCAD for Mac is now shipping!
The $4,000 gets you the full 3D experience, but then so does Rhino, for a quarter of that price. And SketchUp, for a quarter the price of Rhino! Right now, I'm happy enough being right here with SketchUp.

RE: AutoCAD for Mac is now shipping!
Yes, I know.

Now we want 3DS Max, Revit and Inventor (which I'm positive will come).

RE: SkecthUp7
Oli,
I've got the installer. I can ftp it to you if you want?

Yes Opera is very good. I need to have another play with it.

RE: [Plugin] $ Copy Brick (Updated 5/04/11)
Pardon my ignorance, but I'm trying to see how this plugin improves on the tools already available in SketchUp for adding copying and rotating. What I was really hoping to see was a wall creation tool, where you define the number of bricks needed, and at what dimension in h,w and d, then the height and width of the wall. But it seems that this plug-in doesn't do that? Or does it? Or am I just missing the plot altogether?

I'd also very much like to see a plugin that randomly chooses textures from a predefined texture pool (folder). This would mean that the wall would at least have some sort of irregularity to it, rather than each brick just looking the same. Is that doable?
best,
Tom

The Omni Group's, OmniWeb, is now FREE!!! Yay!!
Hmm... the Omniweb honeymoon period is wearing thin.

Omniweb would be great if it wasn't so chock full of bugs. I've now switched to Camino- which is rather elegant, and also free. So we'll see how that goes......
I want my Safari back, but it's having so many performance problems. It starts off great, then hits a site it doesn't like, and then it crawls (probably dealing with all those numpties who have yet to update to IE8 and Windows 7!!

RE: Mac Plugins in home folder
There was definitely a problem with rb scripts and home folders with Podium on OSX. I think where the developers were going 'wrong', and if they were missing this extension, was that the whole point of placing a plugin in the home folder was that other users on the same Mac (if there were to be any), couldn't use the licence that was purchased by that user. I can see the point of that, because the makers of Podium need to make a profit in order to innovate- fair play.
But if this is the case, well spotted! All us Mac users will be a lot happier if it turns out that you've found the holy grail!

RE: Clipmaps of Highschool Students in Uniforms?
In what context? It's probably best to talk to the head teacher, to gain permission to photograph the children. As a photographer, I do a lot of work with schools, but in my experience photographing can be a nightmare because you need to gain the permission of both the school and the parents. If you can do that, it's a simple case of getting the kids to pose, then using SketchUp to draw around the figures to create those 2D cut-outs, SketchUp's trademark. I don't think there is any other way around this, because of all the laws set out to protect children from exploitation (it's all very silly I know- as if the bogieman is always hiding in the wings- perhaps
)Good luck. (you're probably going to need it!

Really smart design, especially for small spaces.
do you have to bolt those to the floor?
also, must have a very strong fold / hinge mechanism...Yes, that's what I was thinking. I can see them collapsing while falling forward (if you are to sit down). How does the design work to prevent this?

RE: Vaulted Ceilings
Leeteedee, although TIG is right, I'm going to just say, the arch is all done with circles, and lines.
experiment of course! (like breaking up your lines, and trying circles from different points).

RE: MAC version 3 non functioning DWG/DXF export?
Edson,
Two more here;
DWG Viewer | Easy to use AutoCAD DWG viewer for mac | Microspot Ltd.
Open, View, Annotate and export your AutoCAD DWG files as PDF on your Mac.

and

At Punch!CAD, it is our mission to make computer aided design software that matches up perfectly with your needs, regardless of your industry or expertise. Whether youβre an architect, engineer, CAD drafter, 3D printing expert, furniture designer, student, or DIY hobbyist, you can always find the right tools for the job.
Shark FX is actually a demo. You get 30 days of trial, then you can't save anything. But it will carry on working as an excellent DXG/DXF viewer. Shark is also built on ACIS, and has 3D capabilities.
While not a viewer, Rhino is still in beta, and can also be had as an excellent 3D viewer for many files including AutoCAD's.
So 3 more perhaps?

Do you even know anything about car design, aerodynamics or mechanic to make such a statment?
This is really silly. I have a bachelor of science degree (with honours) in computer-aided engineering & design if that helps. But you are obviously one of those warty creatures that hangs out under bridges, that mother goat warned me about as I was a kid, so I won't feed you any longer.
Good luck, and I wish you every luck with your endeavours.

RE: Collada round tripping
From what I read, it's not really Google's fault, but Autodesk's- something to do with the development kit from Autodesk being rather out of date. I did have a link illustrating this, but I'm afraid its gone. Sorry.
