Pretty cool stuff! Great renders and I really like the light in the images.

RE: [Plugin] Make Fur v.2.1.0(20140323)
I downloaded 1.3h and I don't see the new dialog, just the old one.
(thanks for the plugin by the way)

RE: OMG! fur plugin is AMAZING!
Pretty cool stuff. I just wanted to add my thanks for the plugin.
I was thinking the plugin has opened the door wider for making ART with su & (insert renderer). Maybe that could be a future challenge. Best abstract image?
thanks for the plugin! And impressive work guys.

RE: Model AND Render this: Lavalamp
Did you use a glass texture with lines? Its a cool model.
My lava now looks like marshmallows!

RE: Model AND Render this: Lavalamp
Just to show how great Solo is at rendering, I will submit the anti-lava lamp. I call it the ping pong rocket!
I did a really quick attempt so I could play with Thea. I need to learn how to make sss mats in thea, among other things....I think I will go back to bridges.
At least right now, I'm second best! (Until somebody else enters...of course)

Can someone tell me why my image has scroll bars? It is only 640px wide? thanks! Just click on it and it expands?

@unknownuser said:I eliminated all transparency values in SU, in Thea I clicked to enable the clip, and used the texture as a clipmap making sure it was alpha and not RGB.
Thanks!

RE: Thea Render is about to be launched..(edit available now)
Thanks Albion Man! I appreciate the comments.
On videos, I am teaching a class in structural analysis at the local university and I have been using camstudio to make some decent "help" videos. The students seem to like them and they are used to seeing "youtube" everywhere they go...
I think videos would be a great solution.

RE: Thea Render is about to be launched..(edit available now)
Richard I think you have some valid points about thea.
I'm an older bridge engineer and the interface is a little daunting for me. I doubt any new user of rendering packages could just jump in and produce something. (It took me about 3 months to get some decent stuff out of kerkythea. Which I now like very much)
So here are my downsides to thea.
- steep learning curve for the UI. Not something you find in a typically software package and difficult for a non rendering person to pick up. (I don't even know what a proxy is?) I often feel intimidated on this site in regards to rendering systems and this UI didn't help. I don't need or want big push me buttons but I don't need to fly the shuttle either.
- beta software. It is hard to work with the software when there are few material libraries, lights, etc
Upsides:
- Price, price, price. It seems to be the cheapest product on the market with what may be the most sophisticated rendering engine.
- Involved owners. I can't believe I received an email response from the owner.
- Loyal staff and community. Great people on the forums.
4)Technical. I am frankly amazed by the level of science involved in the program. I'm not worthy
Finally, I am probably going to buy thea based on points 1 and 2 above. I can't stress how rare it is to hear from an owner who loves their product.
I can learn the interface but I would have liked something that takes less time than actually drawing the model. I think some presets would be great where you could import a model and select "outside 5 pm" to get some quick stuff and then when you have time dive in the technology pool.
And finally, I wish I was swimming in Australia....

Thanks, I draw bridges and I think the style would really fit!
Thanks for sharing!

Very cool. I like the sketchy finished images. Care to share a few steps in the process?

RE: What I am drinking today...
Thanks! My red wine version didn't turn out so well...
I just tried the red one again using DOF in Kerky, first time I ever used it and I think it came out pretty well?

What I am drinking today...
Happy New Year everyone!
My best attempt at making a glass of milk in kerky..all I am drinking today.

Could somebody post a link to the ruby? It looks like a plugin I could use as well.
thanks!

Sketchup grid size - then render
I was playing around with sketchup / kerkythea and I noticed that the grid size played a big part in the final render (duh, I know)
I drew four planes. 1- 50'x 50', 1-50'x50' w/ 1'interior boxes, 1-50'x50' w/5'boxes, and 1- 50'x50' w/10' boxes.
I applied the semi-calm water to each in KT and got different results. I know I can change the texture size in kt to accommodate different grid sizes but I thought the effect was interesting. Now I am more aware of textures inside a rendering application.
Does the grid size from sketchup affect other renders the same way? Do you have to modify your texture size because of the sketchup grid size?
Sorry if this a dumb question....

RE: Fields of green - help with large landscapes
I used the sandbox tools to make some quick terrain but the bumps are not showing well in KT. (I know use a bump map)
So I tired the "color by Z" plugin and I thought I could make a bump map of the terrain to use in KT. The color by Z gives a color to all the different faces based on height and these faces show up in KT as different colors (obviously) si I could work with each face individually. I'm not sure where I am going with this....but all I wanted was some quick landscape around the bridge.
Does this make sense?
