    • RE: Are there any building interior space tutorials?

Well I am a newbee, so I'm still learning the ropes day by day. Maybe I will post a seperate post on those general stuff.

What I was very curious about was :

      1. How do you work on the interior of the model if its encased inside wall/floors and ceilings.
      2. Is it possible to render mirrors and glass in the SU built in render styles ( cos i love that sketchy look).
      3. If there are no spot lights and strip lights in SU then how does one make the interior illumination look convincing in the sketchy render styles.

Thanks for all the help from all members of this forum so far BTW.

      Oh thankd for the list.

Actually I really like the built in sketchy render, thats one of the things that initialy attracted me to SU. The hand drawn of sketchy look.

But I was hoping for something that would still help to make glass and mirrors look good and lights (or mock lights) shine on the wall as they often do in interiors.

To be honest at this time I think I will let our 3d department focus on the wizban renders with max etc.

    • Are there any building interior space tutorials?

Eventually I might find one but I just thought i could ask you all if there is something that will help me build interiors.

At my current level I'm not so sure of things like best procedures in building interiors, ceilings, how to arrange cameras and lighting effect, glass effects mirrors - would be great to see how the experts do it and set me in the correct direction.

      Thanks for the welcome all!

That form font site looks totally what i was looking for! They have a massive selection of modern furniture. I hope they keep adding to it regularly.

      Thanks for the tip-off!

As an interior designer, my models (rooms) will always need filling with furniture and other interior elements that are probably the hardest and most time comsuming part of the model.

I have looked at the 3d warehouse and not seen much that will satisfy your average modern designer, so I was wounding what most Interior Designers do about this.

    • RE: [Tutorial > Modeling] How a Pro Builds a House in SU pt 1

oh i have placed the rectangle to one side this time. I have managed to get the jgp in the matrial library by the right click methof - but when i paint bucket the material to the recangle nothing happens - i cant see the image. can see other materials if i try those though.....

hmm i have now done it but not sure how - restarted it. maybe it was groups problem.

had to flip the image as it was mirrored but looks ok now.

      thanks for you help!

Krisidious - oh silly me i missed your comment on having to cut the second plane manually. Shame SU cant do that automatically.

Yeah Susan big thanks to you for that very easy to understand information, if it was not for this community, sketchup would be a very baffling software.

Yes its a standard door comp, although i did modify one door into a 1 and half leaf door.

Some doors where brought straight onto the wall, some were not.

I have not made the walls into a block yet.
