RE: I Need Serious Help!!!! I Lost vray SU Dongle!!!!
Thanks Ted for the comment. and I did contact sales and support from chaosgroup!
But the sad reality is They did tell me I have to pay for a new license fee, because its due to abuse of dongle license use. I think it really applies to Asian market. I told them it's not fair and it doesn't make sense. It really hurts customers at the end. a policy can be bad. you have to be brave enough to tell them it's wrong. I still don't like that policy at all, even though I really enjoying using vray for su.I'm glad I found my dongle at the end.

RE: Help me add HDR light into the scene, Thanks.
great thanks, valerostudio. I tried the simple method. it works pretty good. I am just having difficulty finding the right hdri image for the indoor scene above. do i have to find a hdri image that is shot at tall building. my indoor scenes are usually high rise apartment building. or I can just get a normal blue sky hdr image? thanks for the help.

Help me add HDR light into the scene, Thanks.
Hi you all, almost all my previous images have only artificial lights, because I didn't know how to add hdr light to the image. I used sketchup sun, but I don't like the shadow created in my scene. I am just looking for the bright outdoor light that cast no shadow.see attached image please.
Thanks you all. I want to take my images to next level.

very impressive. Finally had some time to play and it's amazing to be able to work with some files which caused previous versions just absolutely bog down. Here's a 150MB site model from which I was easily able to export an image (ended up using about 4+Gb of system memory. I would have exported larger, but it was about at the available memory limit with my lower spec laptop.) Can't wait for vray2.0 to be functional in 2015
yes yes yes!!!

RE: I Need Serious Help!!!! I Lost vray SU Dongle!!!!
I contacted them and the reseller. They really wanted me to purchase a new license. That's their policy. But somehow they got me a one year rental license for about 30% of the price of a new license. In the condition that I could upgrade to vray 3.0 in a year. If vray comes out in a year!
That's why I said don't lose the dongle!!
I thought they would just give me a new USB dongle.
But it's not. -
RE: Paint Material with metallic flakes!
Like this!!!!! Thanks . Hope vray 3.0 comes out soon with fur and more feature !

I Need Serious Help!!!! I Lost vray SU Dongle!!!!
Hi vray users and vray support team,
I am in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, I lost my vray for sketchup dongle. I read about other people who lost a dongle. they could simply purchase a new dongle then set it up and it will up and run again. BUT, in hong kong, the reseller is telling me I have to purchase a new License, Not a new dongle to make it work. yes you heard it right, I have to purchase a new license!!! simply because I lost a USB dongle!! It just doesn't make sense that how that policy works!! I am already in agonising pain that I lost the dongle and project deadlines are coming soon. Please help me out. Let the vray team know and vray users please help me reach the words to them. I am only asking for a fair deal.
It's like if I lost a house key then I lose the house?!! how does that make sense. it's bad customer service. it's bad customer support if I have to purchase a new license, if i simply lose a usb dongle in Hong Kong. please please
please help me. please and thanks in advance!!!
I am really in pain now! -

How to Get the Texture file from a sketchup file??
hi you all, I downloaded a sketchup model from 3d warehouse. the problem is when i render it in vray for sketchup. the texture couldn't be located. and I DON't have a jpg texture file. but the texture is showing in the sketchup scene. it just doesn't come out in the render.
does this happen to anyone else. and how can i "extract" that img file from a sketchup file??!!
if my question is not clear, please let me know!
thanks.best regards
note: if moderator thinks this should be in vray sub forum. please move it there, thanks.

Why Sketchup Need to handle heavy poly models for 3d render?
hi you all, this seems like beating a dead horse. but hey this will be my first and last post on this topic.
so bear with me.sketchup users who think sketchup doesn't need to handle heavy models for 3d rendering have their reasons. Their reasons are:
-
you can export and compile sketchup models into a 3rd party rendering program like thea. thea can handle very high poly counts. BUT to me doing interior rendering job(i'm no pro at all), my workflow is quite "messy". i like to try different models for one particular scene. if i don't like that plant or vases or books... in that scene, i do a preview render then i can change them. the reason i don't think this rationale will work for me is, my scene is not finished or finalised. if i keep importing and exporting to 3rd party rendering studio. the time will be longer. if i can just STAY in sketchup to do the rendering testing, the process will be faster.
-
you can import proxy models of heavy models. same thing. it won't work for me. what if i want to make some changes to that heavy models? the proxy models can't be changed in sketchup. i have to reimported back to my current skp file. also proxy models can be buggy. if I sketchup can handle heavy models, I can just stay in sketchup. happy!
-
simply, if sketchup can handle heavy poly models, i don't need to do so many workarounds. because workarounds waste time. That is my point here. if i can stay in sketchup, i can save a lot of time. i can have more time tweaking and creating. i can go thru many iterations or minor changes directly in sketchup.
-
I think i will move away from sketchup if i have to import heavy models for a scene. i Don't like workarounds.
I hope i will find a program that will handle heavy count models and do nice fast rendering. -
i DO like sketchup for it's measuring tools, snapping tool... it helps me quickly create very accurate models.(i build custom furniture models in sketchup).
if my post offends you, because you think it's because my lack of expert knowledge of sketchup. you are prob right. but hey a lot of people want to do 3d interior rendering in sketchup have the same problems.
like others i don't think sketchup will ever be able to handle high poly models.
