      very beautiful Mike, thank you.

Nothing we could visualize in SU I guess:

      wikipedia:
"..The Milky Way is a barred spiral galaxy 100,000–120,000 light-years in diameter containing 200–400 billion stars..."

"..There are probably more than 100 billion galaxies in the observable universe.."

And now science is in need of assuming manifold dimensions to hypothetically grasp the size of the world surrounding us.

I only have x,y,z, and a taper tool.. yep, makes me feel very tiny sometimes, lol.

nice one jo-ke! the lighting burns out in some spots, but that does not disturb the picture in my opinion. just a minor critique: that vacuum cleaner is way too small - looks like a toy next to the ladder.
thanks for sharing the panoramas, I didn't know about pixeet - will try that out soon.

    • RE: From Skp to Reality 02

maybe I am working always too late and this compromizes my abilities. You should see me now grinning like bananas. Hm, after all there is no better laugh than to laugh about oneself. But the truth is I wasn't sure at all if these were only photos. The resoution provided may have made it difficult to judge, but in the end I saw a few things that made me say "naw, must be a render". The shinyness of the wooden surfaceses is all so soft, and the furniture is too perfectly alligned. In the end I went with that discovery that the glasses and the bottle appeared in two shots just as if you copy/pasted them.
Of course you or the photographer put quite some effort into postpro, Sharpening, levels and such.
Luckily this error of mine only enhances the praising of your work, otherwise I would feel ashamed. Gotta think about that a little more, but somehow this looks like a damn good lesson on human perception to me.

on revisiting this thread I am again stunned by the perfection of your work. And again for a moment I thought it could be be possible that you sneaked in at least one or two photographies. Or is it just the title that made me believe something like that?
Would you be so generous to share how you did that puddle full of rubble in the last picture (terrace)?

      beautiful work!
love the use of shadows in the SU renders. The way you present it they contrast the photos so well. And the photos themselves are a great job, too - for a moment I thought they were high class renders, lol.

    • RE: Does anyone know how to do this?

Just played with component2faces plugin because of this thread..

..Chris, does your plugin really scale the component according to face size? That would be very interesting!

As Pilou shows it really depends on what exactly you want to model. There are many solutions in SU, but after all it has not exactly parametric modeling features and such.

There are some interesting threads about this topic, such as

      Corail_Table_Lamp_Jaques_Charles_geometry.jpgHello all,

Today I've tried to model this lamp from a photo as quickly as possible. Hm, I guess I need more training, 35 minutes is a bit slow...

Anyway, If someone of you is so lucky that his customers wants to afford a product like this, then you might find this model useful.

      greets

good job, I like the style and the furniture. Did you model them by yourself?
the corners look very sharp, they could use some rounding for even more realism...

    • RE: I'm back! What have I missed?!

Oli, just like you I wasn't present here for a year or two, came back somewhen last week and read a lot to catch up. Now I stand here (kind of like in your footprints, if I may) resonating emotionally to your thread. Isn't this the most warmhearted community ever? Have seen some, but nothing comparable to what I find here at SCF. It's so good to see you (and all of you) back again. In the end being here frequently and learning so much from you guys in the past has given me the courage to now change to architectural and interior projects. (long story short: I got tired of showbusiness and propaganda and they got tired of me) ...can't be thankful enough.
      btw nice cars!

    • LO DWG-export to ACAD, need help please

      Hello everyone,

I've been using LayOut for several projects recently making PDF presentations and it worked great for me.
Now I am digging into plan and elevation drawings and have to produce dwg files that will be further processed by an architect in AutoCad. Somehow I am running into quite some issues. Unfortunately my experience with AutoCad and other Cad programs tends to zero and I only have DraftSight on my machine atm.
Maybe you guys could give me hints on how to proceed or link me to a thread that had these issues dicussed already, as I could not find much about it so far (still reading through older posts). To keep it short I'll try to put it into five simple questions:

      • Is there a way to have all LO pages exported into one dwg file, not every page into a single one?

      • Why does the drawing show up in Acad only on the layout pages and not on the model page?

      • In Acad the dimensions seem not to be connected to the model, could this be because I was shortening the extension lines for a cleaner look?

      • Some colors for fillings turn out differently, how can I solve that?

      • A text box in which i've used a line-break the line-height in Acad turns out to be at least ten times higher, what went wrong with that?

(for all models I've used vector rendering mode)

Another issue I have is with creating different line weights for plan drawings in one model. I was not getting it right with using sections in SU so I quicky made a 2D plan in SU from the 3D model (this also eased up working with fillings). Then I copied the section surfaces to the clipboard and pasted them into the respective page in LayOut placing it over the plan model. Using a different line weight for the Style this looked just perfect. I am not very surprized that with this technique the geometry in Acad is behaving strangely. Would it be better to do the coloring and maybe even the outlining of the sections in LayOut? Any ideas on that?

      thanks in advance
      Alexander

    • RE: Best Renderer for renders with NO natural light

I use Twilight and Thea. Twilight is fast and easy to handle, you can even project images with a spotlight.
Thea might be more complex but on the other hand you may save a lot of time through its neat features. I enjoy positioning the lights right in Thea while in interactive-GPU-render mode. Then I often use the relight function to leave the finetuning for afterwards. Really like this workflow.
