Nice one Alan!
Here is my version. Was struggling with the shading and concealed it with different shades of grey.
yes I know, impossible to make from paper - just couldnt help it

Nice robot Roberto,
How come I first thought you got inspired by the minimalistic graphic design in this music clip?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXa9tXcMhXQ
Now we want to see some devastation, har har.
What I have seen so far is AO, IBL, bumpmapping, all sorts of animation, AR, videotextures...
...a lot of potential.
I also like the 3D product catalogue, it is a good example for how much is possible.
Thanks for sharing this Tito, and all thumbs up for a tutorial!
(see you tomorrow, gotta sleep)
a.
Sorry, still roflmao...
Simon, just wanted to say thank you for starting this thread. Really encouraged me to play with Sculptris once again (hope I find some time soon).
Will be following this with interest, keep it going!

I agree with you, Blender after SU is like rocket science after sex.
thank you Pete, you don't know how much you saved my mood this evening
Tito, this is really interesting.
Isn't this how we want presentation to work like: send customer a link and he gets an interactive file with one click. No downloads, no hassle.
No need to say there is a lot to be developed. I see transparency is possible... how about light and shadows?
Does it take serious programming skills to make this?
cheers
alex
Great find Jim, thanks for posting it. I really like illusion tricks, and these are so well done, yummy. The marbles are astonishing
Similar methods can even become useful in SketchUp modelling - for example when trying to find workarounds like we did in this thread: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=31069
(Hard to believe that there can be a purpose in modelling shadows... )
How about these models I found in 3DWarehouse:

there you see different solutions to fake the effect of a led curtain. It needs to be faked, because if you would model the real thing (thousands of a few millimeter small diodes with a picture mapped onto), it would not give the desired look in SketchUp.
Have a look at the last model, I find this method very smart. John/HD\ (who made the model) uses an alpha transparent texture with holes in front of the picture/video content.
If you think the contrast is too tough or the picture could show even more, try to play with the transparency of the perforated material.
If you want the screen to be transparent itself, maybe try the methods with the stripes.
hope this is useful to you...

Haha, I still enjoy watching "sports" like these. Was always inspired by this immense amount of dexterity and also by observing weird "cultural phenomena" evolving.
Honolulu says it - now when I look back at the stuff I did, it was a tiny fart compared to what the guys do with their bikes and boards today.
Nonetheless my spine, knees and wrists are ruined just as well.
Nice find Dave, thank you!
Congratulations! Very impressive, I like the backlit wall panel in the bedroom best. Your Idea?
Only critique here: you posted too many good renders at once, I feel so inferior now
keep it up!
alex
Here is your DJ traced with Image Trimmer (simplification value 1.2)
Today Nicolas contributed an incredible collection of dancer silhouettes:
http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=34126&p=300242#p300242
Nicolas, this is an amazing set of silhouettes!
Altogether 10 components including the DJ - and a very neat tiny mirror ball.
(did you use Image Trimmer plugin or is it traced all by hand?)
Very very very generous!
(I'll get the drinks, see you on the dancefloor )
big thank you!

Gee, this is far beyond my expectations ... speechless.
Whaat seems to be turning the niche into a 1st class lounge.
thank you Pete!
Oh yes, UV-Tools, ImageTrimmer and ImageAnimator got me exited. James reported yesterday: FotoSketcher version 2 is out!
Good to see you Oli! Happy new year to you too
Thank you James! I like what FotoSketcher can do, and the new features are really great.
Just picked a simple sketch, raw SU output. The results make me believe that I finally became a real artist
I bet we are going to see a lot new painterly renderings soon...
Wow! I suppose it can be edited while in LightUp tourtool... (?)
Ah, that sounds plausible. Not sure what I did wrong, but I guess must have been something like that.
thank you Thomas
Oh, thanks for mentioning Subdivide. Its a good reminder as I have forgotten about it long time ago...
cheers
