@thomthom said: Contact ASGVis support with the model in question. Have them have a look at it. thanks thom, I'll go ahead and do that. @kwistenbiebel said: I had that issue as well some time ago and ended up loading the default.visopt (render settings panel), saving, closing and reopening the file. That solved it for me. If it would not work, try to copy /paste in place the whole content into a new file and set things up from scratch.... I hope this helps, Cheers, Kwistenbiebel Kwistenbiebel, We will try that. We have actually never tried any of the provided default visopts with vray, we have always just ran our own settings. The thing is that, we think this model is cursed, Lol, because have cut this model to pieces. Removing things that we don't need, simply getting the just the bare bones. We have cut and paste into new models at least 3 times and everytime there is always something wrong with the rendering or we just get a bugsplat. -Steve

@unknownuser said: Hi I emailed ASGvis about this. They said ............. ......... It is possible to do what is called a "fly-through" animation using SketchUp (and therefore V-Ray) in which only the camera moves. This is not a supported function of V-Ray but something that SketchUp does that we can enhance using our render engine. You can find tons of information about animation on our free forums. Here is a link to just one of the many postings about this: http://forum.asgvis.com/index.php?topic=4324.0 However I am having trouble accessing the ASGvis site! So Ihope it can help. Please let me know. Guy Thanks Guy for the insight. I will have to take a look at this. I am new to rendering fly-through's and stuff and i will probably end up doing them in 3DS Max, but I just wanted to see if there was any easy way to accomplish this with sketchUp, because I love that you don't have to switch from program to program. I rendered two scenes as an "animation" from the vRay options and saved the jpg's. I tried then combining and creating them into a video in Sony Vegas but the thing is, is that it isn't arranging the jpgs as 30frames/sec. its doing like 1 frame every 4 seconds and I have no idea how to tell it to do it 30/sec. Hope someone has a simple solution, Thanks again! Steve

@thomthom said: Yes, V-Ray samples dark areas less. Is it suppose to be so dark? If note, I'd adjust the camera exposure - if you're using the Physical Camera. Thanks Thomthom for the exposure advice, I will check that out. Should I just up the samples then to cure the darker area blotchy effect? That area to the right of the scene is not supposed to be that dark. There are plenty of windows from that side of the room to illuminate the room in the actual house, so I'm trying to keep it consistent in the render. Chango, I will have to try your tip with larger plane lights. The only thing, when you use 'no decay' does that take away from a more realistic render? I was thinking about using point lights under the recessed can lights instead of small plane lights, I think that might give me a brighter render.

UPdate Ok everyone, so I have been working on the renders here at the office and I think that I pinpointed the problem. Under the sky material for the environment map, I accidently changed the Shadow Bias from 0 to 32, instead of changing the Shadow Subdivisions from 8 to 32. :X Oh well, its fixed now. I will upload pictures of the fixed renders when I finish them. Thanks for all the input!!!

Hey guys, thanks for all the input. Rob, thanks for all the advice. 1)By default in VRay GI is set on. I changed some of the parameters for a softer shadow.I changed the size from 1 to 2, and the shadow subdiv from 20 to 32. 2) For the sky dome, are you talking about HDRI? or are you just talking about placing a background image. How would I go about doing that and where could I acquire spherical images that would work? 3) I didn't get to the window frames and other minor details at the point of rendering that image, but I will certainly get to that! Tom, so your saying that for displacement to work, no other geometry can be touching the object? Even if it is grouped/made component? How would I get around this? On this next image I believe my displacement worked. I elevated the counter 1/4" from the stone island as well as the BBQ, so then only thing that it is coming in contact with is the ground, but it appeared to work. Secondly, just wanted to say that I got the water to work. Found the right combo of adjusted parameters to get that semi transparent, bluish tint and got the displacement to work also. (I think I just had the size to high to notice any change. It was at 300 and I brought it down to 5 and it was perfect. I put it to 300 only because I saw in a tutorial that the guy did that, so...) Anyway, here is a picture of my progress, slowly but surely. I did want to ask a few more things, that is if you all don't mind. How to get a more realistic brushed metal material. What type of material I should do for the BBQ, if you don't think that the stone I used is good. (Keep in mind the new material has to match with the redish brick facade of the house.) [image: test_render08.jpg] Thanks for your time and help!!! Steve
