Quick bath model and render I did today. C&C's welcome.

I'm thinking about looking more into Vray. How's the learning curve been? What sort of experience do you have with other renderers and which one's have you used?
Good job on the rendering.
-Brodie
Lol, hey brodie, sorry for the delayed response. I haven't really used any other rendering engine before this. I used Mental Ray briefly in school but Vray is my main rendering tool. The learning curve isn't too bad. I've been using it now for about 4+ months and you can already see the result.
Thank you all for the C&C's! I will work on the glass and fire textures and the fireplace also. thakns again!

Epic render
I think the fire needs work. I wouldnt have the faintest idea how to do it.
Is the fire image an emissive material?
Hey Holmes,
The fire was actually done post render in photoshop. I was going to render it as an emissive material but got lazy and just did it in Pshop. Maybe next series of renderings I will create an emissive material (and even better yet, attempt to animate the fire for an animation, that is if, someone wants to give me direction on how to do that).
I'm still waiting on some more changes to this project, because the client actually made some minor adjustments to the floorplan, this fireplace being part of the new sheme.
Thanks!
Project we're working on at work. Vray w/ some post pShop. C&C welcome!

Contact ASGVis support with the model in question. Have them have a look at it.
thanks thom, I'll go ahead and do that.

I had that issue as well some time ago and ended up loading the default.visopt (render settings panel), saving, closing and reopening the file.
That solved it for me.
If it would not work, try to copy /paste in place the whole content into a new file and set things up from scratch....I hope this helps,
Cheers,
Kwistenbiebel
Kwistenbiebel,
We will try that. We have actually never tried any of the provided default visopts with vray, we have always just ran our own settings. The thing is that, we think this model is cursed, Lol, because have cut this model to pieces. Removing things that we don't need, simply getting the just the bare bones. We have cut and paste into new models at least 3 times and everytime there is always something wrong with the rendering or we just get a bugsplat.

Hi all,
We are having some troubles at our office with black squares appearing in the "rendering final image" phase. We have never had this issue before and now all of a sudden we have been getting black squares appearing in the middle of our renders and shortly after sketchup crashes.
Does anyone know what might be causing this and how we can go about fixing it.
Thank you!
Steve

lol bit nice for a first go. im sure thats not your first render! but very photo real, nice just colour banding is a bit of an issue thats all!
Thanks guys, VRay rules. You have to play around with it to perfect (just like everything). I like this renderer compared to others because of its realistic shadows.
I know, this is not my 1st render ever, more like my 500th. I'm just being goofy, because I've noticed that other people have done the same thing!
p.s. Oli, you know any tips to prevent the color banding?

What's your Adaptive Amount in the DMC sampler?
