      Hi Guys,

I don't submit models here too often as i find it intimidating amongst the modeling prowess that surrounds me ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I've spent the last year designing and constructing every facet of it with SU6/7, and as well as learning the ropes with SU, I've also learnt bricklaying, roofing, electrics, plumbing etc.

It's still a work in progress and hopefully it will be finished by Xmas.

I think i've the only shed in the village with broadband and a killer sound system

Great model, reminds me of a RPG on PS3 that came out last year. Can't think of the name but it was cell shaded in much the same way as your model. I know it had 'Chronicles' in the title but as this aluminium dust has played havok with my brain ๐Ÿ˜’

    • Should i migrate to ubuntu?

      Hi,

I've got a Dell Latitude D400 ( it's like an old friend ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) but recently it has become more sluggish. It's running XP SP3 with Office 2003 and very little else installed except for SU7.

Now lately I've been considering replacing 60gb HDD with 180gb HDD and changing OS to Ubuntu 8. My concern is compatibility issues with SU7 as i'm not particularly adept at fiddling about with scripting to get things to work.

How do users feel about SU7 operating under Ubuntu? Should i stick with XP and just do a new install?

      Hi,

I had look at your plans but i found it hard to understand as it is difficult view it with excel. But i made a very simplistic version so you can play around with it yourself to get the final product that you need.

I'm sure there's is someone beavering away on it at the moment and will upload a better version soon enough. But to help out a little hope you view this and play around with it

If u really wanna learn more about clouds and how to identify them you should read 'Cloud Spotters Guide' by Gavin Pretor Pinney (ISBN 978-0-340-89590). It's the most upliftingbook you'll ever read!

After you read it, I recommend you join http://www.cloudappreciationsociety.org, for about โ‚ฌ10 you get a cool certificate and of course the honour of now been officially known as a cloudspotter

      Hi Mike,

What a great link, thanks. Like yourself i'm definitely gonna pay this man a visit and pick up a print or 2. I'm living in Broadford so I've a little further to drive than you, but glad to know a fellow Irishman and neighbor is a member of this brilliant site.

      regards,

    • RE: Total newbie

try downloading the free podium plugin to see how your models will look rendered. That's where I started and now I've moved to vray. There's alot to learn but that's half the fun. I'm not brave enough to upload my renders yet but soon I'll take the plunge. You'll get great advice from this site but you'll have to title your posts to match your query to get the right people to answer them. Otherwise you end up with a long useless reply like this!!! From a short useless Irish man

      Baby's Wardrobe 2.skp

Here's the project i'm trying to render. It's a wardrobe for the new arrival we're expecting in july.

I'd like to render this with a semi gloss finish so i could show the lady boss what the finished product looks like. To quote herself ' why does sketchup look like a cartoon?'

So i've inherited a laptop with SU6 and VRay and have started to teach myself its workings. So far it winning the battle and i'm losing.

ps, by inheriting i mean that the current global economic meltdown has forced an architect friend of mine to put away the pen and pencils and join the law enforcement brigade.
