By the way - I happen to have a video tutorial (with annotations) on this subject. At the top left, you can see the delay time counting down - you can always push the play button to go on (do not have to wait if you have already read understood the annotation) YouTube - Creating a Face-me component in SketchUp [flash=480,385:3azh3y60]http://www.youtube.com/v/VvI6A7Njw4k?fs=1&hl=en_US[/flash:3azh3y60]

@rhysifan said: WOW! curviloft works like a charm. thank you! In your case, I would suggest you use Curviloft "Loft by Spline" (instead of Loft Along), so ignoring the curve. Just select the two faces, and then use the method "Orthogonal Elliptic" (small red arc of circle icon in the button palette). This will make the bended portion orthogonal to each straight rail end. @rhysifan said: Hi Can anyone tell me whether its possible to draw dotted lines, centre lines and hatching in layout Yes for the dotted (and dashed and dash-dot etc) lines, yes for centre lines (depending on what you precisely want) no for hatching unless you do it manually. @rhysifan said: Also, is it possible to get an A0 page size in Layout? I'm pretty sure you can set any size you like. I've been using 36"x24" for my house plans since that matches my local print shop's big printer.

Another method is to create some frames in photoshop. A rectangle with a transparent interior and a frame of 50% grey. SAve these various aspect ratio files as png's and load them in sketchp as "watermarks" in the style area. Use the centred mode so as not to distort the shape. These will then appear as a transparent frame. You can also add other lines, crosshairs etc. so it has the feel of a real viewfinder too.
