RE: Thanksgiving
In holland, thanksgiving is not much of a dinnerparty like it is in America. There's mainly the church service. For those who attend. The rest of the people usually don't know what it is. We call it dankdag. And it's almost a month ago... so, no - I'm not gonna make turkey
Then again. As far as good parties go; we have Sinterklaas!

RE: Buildings
We still have google-translate, in case we fear the scary Spanish-speaking people

Really looking good. Lighting spot on. Just a little bit of dirt (especially to the road and footpath) and you'd have nailed it totally.
There's always something more to make it even more realistic...
I think it's great already! -
RE: Vector Rendering Problem
I get the same thing. Haven't delved deep into when exactly it is happening.
For as long as the error shows on screen, the PDF exporter generates an error as well. I can make it go away (sometimes) by forcing LO to re-render the vector image; either by slightly orbiting around the model or by repeatedly clicking shadows on or off. Which triangle in the model it extends to the top left corner of the paper, differs every time. Hope you guys can fix it. When it happens to render correctly, the PDF export works again as well. -
RE: Name Anagram generator .... a bit of fun!
Pyroluna's anagram name is YOUR PLAN

Perhaps it would be better to arrange the bottles in a hexagonal stacking matrix to that all the bottles touch and join them with silicone adhesive.
Hexagonal sounds good. But instead of adhesive, I was thinking you could put a band around them to hold them together. Something that doesn't stretch too much... something like this:
No idea about the price though. But probably cheaper than mahogany

RE: A stl workflow
are kids gonna be looking at that?!
right... not my taste either. but the modelling work looks amazing!
oh and the waterproofing can be checked with SU8 in the entity info... if the group is solid, it's waterproof!

RE: Clever recycling and repurposing hacks?
Interesting concept... how do the top and bottom attach to one another? Won't the bottles tend to bend or skew outward?
You'll probably stay dry if your house floods, considering the amount of upthrust*- not sure that is the right word. buoyancy might be better? or lift? not sure not sure.

RE: Streetscape
I see now that you had 'm at first on the VW's but not on the Volvo, and I remember at the time when seeing the first picture, I was wondering 'why does the volvo look so unnatural'. Now I know. The Volvo looks naked without a license plates. The VW's however, do not, since the model is designed to look good with or without them. Also, the metallic band helps.

RE: Home 13 KITCHEN REMODEL
I think the best thing about the new design is the ceilingish kind of object with the lights shining up, which allows for indirect lighting, and, as such, makes the entire space look roomier. But on the whole, the atmosphere is very designy. I can't ever imagine anyone saying "oh isn't it cozy inhere?!" It reminds me of a dutch commercial we had a number of years back, with just such a kind of space... A broker showing people the house, and them saying just those words... and then an advert for coffee...
not to say it isn't beautiful. it's just not my taste. I prefer the old setup. With some plants. Lots of plants. And coffee, as well.

RE: Streetscape
Yes. And the fact that the cars don't have license plates. That's a dead give-away that it's a render. And of course the perfect angle of the photograph... you're standing in the middle of the road; that's plain dangerous!

RE: Hollander House
looks promising... whence the name?
as a true Hollander myself, I see mainly lots of concrete around here...

RE: Matching real camera with SU camera

RE: High Poly Trees that won't slow your system
I got this tree earlier from this very forum, but I don't remember from whom and I'm too lazy to look it up.
I find it very useable. Also the texture for the leaves is neatly colorizable to green or whichever color you wish

RE: Materials folder question
oh and back on-topic; hellnbak; have you tried using the material-picker? if you've already applied the material somewhere in your scene, and you know where, you can use paintbucket+alt to pick up the material in order to apply it

RE: The "Duh!" thread (aka the Doh! thread)
well... there's a sketchup-wiki in Dutch... so... yay! for Dutch people

Not so, you can use known weights in one bucket to weigh any object in the other bucket. For instance, you could have 10 Euros of cheese, 20 yen of sushi, 50 nails of beer. Would work fine for recipes as regardless of true weight you can work out proportions. Also all the objects mentioned are standard and have known weights.
Also from the photo, I now understand the pyro part of pyroluna. Your hair is flame red.
Hmmm.. I hadn't thought of using nails and coins etcetera.. good tip. Now I can postpone buying a proper scale for that much longer Hm.. screws are a bit lightweight... good for fine tuning. I think I'll use some of my smaller books as heavier weights - those are usually mentioned on amazon.com or bol.com... I can look for weight by ISBN
And yes...the nickname is because of the hair.
And also because I'm a little bit crazy - that's the second partOh I have this other repurposed object.
It used to be a part of a bookshelf, but after moving I found it had to be cut off. Now I use it as a cutting board, as a lid for that pan that doesn't have one, and as a table mat to put 'm on when it's done! So it's multi-repurposed!
