Not really. Al least not yet. We use Enscape also, mostly for VR and animation but this job was a quickie where there really wasn't any time for rendering.

RE: Grunge living room.
To get the lamp light looking good start with a normal light intensity for that kind of lamp and turn off all other lights including sun and sky. Then correct the camera exposure and other settings until it looks correct and then if you want some ambient light turn sky and sun on but at a very low intensity not to blow the image out.

RE: Grunge living room.
I think the image would benefit from some more interesting lighting. Maybe turn on the floorlamp?

RE: Always face camera with View Observer - Would this work?
If it was possible I thought it would be good to have that functionality in a form that might work better with third party render engines and also the possibility to enhance it with some new functionality.

RE: Performance
It sets the background to white and turn of all the edgestyles.
I didnt add shadow as that is something the user turns on and off. -
RE: Performance
Also grouped geometry seems to work faster than loose edges and faces. Make sure you have turned off Profiles under edge styles. And shadows OFF while modelling.
A few days ago I posted a new little script that creates a simple clean Style without all the different edge styles. You could try that as well.

RE: [Plugin] FredoTools::ColorByAltitude - v1.2a - 10 Jul 21
That makes sense. I was thinking of using it as a mask in rendering software where you can layer materials.

Looking great.
How is the colors applied to the surface? Is it projected from the x or y direction?
I can see this useful as a mask for different terrain textures.
Would it be hard to also add color by slope and a mix of both?Colors are applied in the Z direction (mapping Z to V), so it's not really a planar projection.
The technique of using a single texture for all faces only works when there is an absolute criteria, here the altitude, which is defined in each point of the face.
It won't work for slope, since faces can have different slopes in any direction (in addition to the difficulty to define a 'sliding' slope for a face).
For masking, this is a limitation of Sketchup which cannot 'mix' textures. You have to do that in an external editor. In theory, I think I could do it from within Sketchup with the API, but it's going to be damned long for the calculation, as the plugin would have to calculate the individual mixed texture for every face. And of course, you'll get as many material as faces (which can be numerous in terrain). So not really something to keep a light model.

Always face camera with View Observer - Would this work?
I was thinking of a way to create a custom "always face camera" script and this is the idea.
Would this work or am I missing something about how a ViewObserver works?
If it did work, would it be terribly slow?Idea:
Run script to set "Face camera" attribute for the selected component(s).
Use a ViewObserver that is called when the camera is moved.
Get the active camera position.
The ViewObserver "tells" components with the "Face camera" attribute to rotate towards the new camera position. -

Location snapshot quality
Didn't Trimble say improved quality for location snapshots as a subscription only feature while the classic license would continue having the low useless quality as before?
Here at work we have machines with both classic and subscription license and when doing a test it is exactly the same low resolution on the images.
Here are the two test snapshots.
Click on the images to view them at full size.
Rather useless quality if you ask me. -
Lock by Layer
Lock by Layer lets you lock or unlock Groups and Components on a layer while skipping loose geometry and other entities like for example images. All items on the selected layer are selected so you easily can see if there are some unlockable items.

RE: AI & Rendering
After looking at the videos I can't say I'm that impressed.
It may be noise free within seconds, but the image is so blurred you really can't tell what it looks like until after a while. I'd rather see what I'm looking at with some noise than have to guess at a blurred image.
I'm also not interested in renting a renderer. What resolution and render time are the posted images?

RE: Is it just me?
I recently made this plugin but since it was such a quick thing I didn’t bother to post it in the plugins sub forum.
I only posted it in the thread.
