Yeah I'm so proud of this scene!
So many people gave it a go, and that's interesting! Thank you guys!!
I'm not Vietnamese, btw: I'm Italian, actually
Only, my friends have huge fantasy in making up nicknames

..I'm really going to post much moro of my scenes: this is so interesting!!
Thank you Nomeradona for sharing! The environment addiction is really cool
..really!
Though for a so close shot, I'd add some screen interlacement..
YEAH JON! COOL MOOD! Seems like a sepia image, but it's the tones only! Really effective!
I wouldn't be bothered if I'd see a gangster or something going out this room..
Really, cool pictures too!
And excellent vases! Are they from the warehouse? could you link us? please?
Thanks Kwist! Your opinions always mean a lot to me!
The glass on the cart is thick, with a little absorption (you can see a pale green/blue colouring the edges): it isn't a simple parallelogram, 'cos I often see some beveling applied to the down face in real glass carts (about 4cm), so i scaled (with centerpoint as the base point) the face a little..
It's hard to describe... I'll attach a PS sketch..
I agree with you about the upper shelf
Don't know how to solve that little problem: I even thought about "filling" it by pushpulling the back wall forward to reach the edge of the shelf... Really don't know...
Perhaps I could fill the shelf with cooking books of recipes! Still....
doubts doubts doubts..
Help guys!!!
EDIT
added cart glass section sketch
...yeah...you're right....
(My mom is 1.52m tall..lilliput....and keeps yelling at me for that damn shelf)
Hi guys! What a funny topic!
So, i'm going on with the refinement: some minor work on the objects, and some overall changes.
Crits and comments as always!
Kwist: thank you for the credit!!!!
Remus: truly slow, indeed.. But sometimes it DOES worth the wait!
Solo: Hi man! Very interesting POV! I'll give it a try myself when this whole project is over!
Kwisten: All right! Something on the shelf! I was thinking about a couple of decoration vases i found on the warehouse indeed, but they don't seem to fill the shelf too much, so it keeps on looking a little empty and useless... Still thinking...
Earthmover: Very nice feeling! It feels so warm, mine is a little cold....
Thank you all guys for your feedbacks!
Hi guys! I feel like this is not a floor test scene anymore..
I'm kind of affectionated to this scene!
So, I'm still planning a few changes: the spot light on the right is a little annoying and doesn't even seem to be turned on, the right picture is too big, the cart is empty..
Next challenge is the fruit vase: i'm gonna try to fill it with oranges, let's see what comes out!
Then I'll add a piece of furniture on the far right, under the table againsta the wall, and perhaps some objects over the high plasterboard shelf.
5 hours of calculation on a Q6600, 4GB RAM, WinXP
No post process, apart from a very subtle sharpening.
As always, any suggestion would be much appreciated!
..uhm...don't know at all, since I use WindowsXP pro...
Perhaps someone experiencing this problem on Vista could test it...
Sorry!
Hi guys!
It may sound repetitive, but I've searched a lot in the forum and I hardly found it at last! So I decided to put it here for a more rapid serach (moderators are free to remove this topic if useless).
This micro-tutorial to explain how to enable the thumbnail preview if it doesn't show up automatically.
It typically happens when you have two sketchup version installed and you uninstall one of them: once uninstalled, your skp files' thumbnails are gone, and you can only see the standard sketchup.exe icon.
A solution is obviously to re-install sketchup (repairing the existing installed version), but most of the times it is more practical to re-enable the thumbnails this way:
Start -> run...
type "cmd" and then press "return"
navigate into your sketchup root directory by typing for example:
"cd C:\program files\google\sketchup 6" and press "return"
now you're in your sketchup6 root folder. Type:
"regsvr32 thumbsup.dll" and press "return".
Done
Hope this can help someone

thank you for the italian translation

Would be a cool that once and a while someone posts a working scene we all can try out.
Thanks for sharing!
I think this is the essence of learning, concerning GI, and I've always thought so!
I tried to drop the idea somewhere(here on sketchy forum or on kerky's or on Vray's); result: a lot of agreements, but not a scene shared..
I really think that sketchUp can help a lot, with its structure and way of managing files.
And comparisons between render engines using the same base scene isn't hijacking at all, for me: so I invite you all guys to keep on rendering the poor scene I posted, and to share one among your best ones so that anybody can try!
Hi guys! Sorry to bother..
Since...today Windows XP doesn't allow me to see the preview thumbnail of my skp files anymore.
Even if I set View -> Thumbnail, the only thing I see is a large Sketchup.exe icon (the house with the pencil) for all files..
The preview doesn't appear in the blue lateral side either..
What can i do to re-enable the feature?
Thank you in advance!
EDIT: sorry moderators! I don't know why, but it seems i incidentally added my post to a topic not at all related!! So sorry! Please move it to the proper space!
I'm going on modifying the things i'm not satisfied with; next step: replace the plant!!!
This is a small update: done a fantasyless postpro work with PS, and testing a whatsoever "definitive" layout...
Hi Kwisten! happy to hear you!!
I noticed that your renders look more real than mines! So, now with a comparison, i can see what's wrong and maybe adjust a few things. This is what i call a constructive posting!
Maybe overexposing something isn't such a bad affair, as I tend to think.. And a lighter atmosphere won't harm either..
Fine! Something learned!
I'm experiencing troubles with the indoor plants: they're not convincing at all
I'll try to substitute them with other objects...
Thank you Kwisten for posting!
Glad to be of any help!
I post you the link only if you promise you will post your results in this topic!

Oh: if you use Indigo stable release, this scene is ready-to-render!
Only, be careful to apdate the paths for the nkData-based materials..
Perhaps you won't be able to use the IES lights, though..
EDIT
I attach here the IES file I used in the scene: just download it and load its right path in the sketch mat named IES!
Hi guys, thank you!
Yes, the picture is leaning to the wall on the far corner, but i see it's not so noticeable
I personally don't mind too much to wait a little more, at the moment: perhaps i've never been in such a hurry to compel me to wish for 30mins renders, THANK GOD! BTW, a couple of times I happened to be in a little hurry, but i simply ran Indigo in cooperative mode through the LAN of my office, and it all went just fine: rendertimes were still huge, but consistently shorter than a one-pc process..
I'm not a fan of long rendering times, to tell the truth to you guys: it's just that Indigo integrates itself so well into my SketchUp workflow, that now I fell a little uncomfortable working with other systems: I think it's a sort of cursed addiction
