What happen to the cast/receive shadow commands in 2016?
They use to be on the entity info tab on previous versions, or is my install screwed up?
Also is it possible to not have the tray and switch back to the floating tabs?
They where less obtrusive and annoying in my work flow.

RE: SketchUp 2016 is here....

Still like the old way better as it did not take up screen space and it just worked.
its not just SKU, it other programs as well. They keep fixing whats not broken and not fixing what needs to be fixed. -

"- You can still revive the old way if you make a tray per inspector and use a short cut to call it as you probably did before. You can also use that shortcut to toggle it on and off wich is great!"
Not sure what you mean,What I don't like with the new tray is the space it takes up on my screen, even when its rolled up I need to adjust the tray to take up less screen space. in SKU2015 and prior I didn't have to do this.

RE: SketchUp 2016 is here....
Look for shadows setting under the new (Silly) Default tray.
Who wanted that feature? The old way was muck better.
Why do they fixing whats not broken but hardly ever fix what is?Hint: BETTER MAPPING CONTROLS

RE: Learning V Ray - Steam Train Model
Lz
Love your train and the mapping....Fantastic! -
RE: Learning V Ray - Steam Train Model
Thank Lz , ely862me,
Mapping is a pain on round object in SKU, and I have the Sketchup mapping tool but unlike 3d max I do not have the control over the placement of the map as you do can in Max.
I am still new to V Ray and trying to learn more as I find time. in the mean time I will add some maps and work with them,

RE: Learning V Ray - Steam Train Model
Was the smoke added in something like photoshop?
I’d like to add some dirt/grease to the underside and some patina to the metals for an aged look. Adding bump mapping was simple enough but mixing maps so far for me has been difficult to work with in Sketchup-V Ray. So far I have not found any good tutorials for V Ray Sketchup on line anywhere that shows how to do a good dirty map.
But I'll keep trying.

RE: Learning V Ray - Steam Train Model
If you mean the front wheels they are not driver wheels, I believe they are there to negotiate curves and to support the front portion of the boiler and is supported underneath the frame.

Learning V Ray - Steam Train Model
Revised an old steam train model I did some time ago in Sketchup and rendered it in V Ray.
Comments most welcome.Done in Sketchup 2015 and rendered in V Ray for sketchup 2.0.

RE: Technical illustration
No it’s just a compressed air gun for a dental lab. We use to add weights to the hose to retract the air gun back into the holster that took up more room. This new system is more compact.

Technical illustration
Simple technical illustration to show updates/change items on a fixture.
Done in Sketchup and rendered in 3D Max.

RE: "Save changes to Untitled?"
Yes it is annoying but it’s something I’ll have the live with. At least I know what the problem is and that it’s not something I have done.
Hopefully they will fix this sometime in future releases.
Thanks All

RE: "Save changes to Untitled?"
Thanks for your reply,
I will download it and try it out when I get home over the weekend.
What happens when I enable VRay, will the same thing happen? Do I need to disable VRay before I close the program every time? -
RE: VRAY causing Sketchup 2015 to bug splat
I am having Bug Splats as well lately and as i am finding out other issues tied to V Ray http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=79%26amp;t=62580%26amp;p=573573#p573573
When I render and changes views a couple of time it will bug splat with in a session. I am also using Windows 7 and SKU15

RE: "Save changes to Untitled?"
Sorry have not replied earlier , been busy with other issues.
But I did uncheck V Ray and tried it out and Sketchup quit asking me to save the untitled page and it loaded faster to boot. I then added the scrip below to the Ruby Console and got a long list of code. After adding the 2nd scrip it retuned with "#Sketchup::AttributeDictionaries:0x0000000b579d28", don't know what that means or what I should do if anything.
I also save a new template without V Ray,
But when I load it to work with it .(The only way I know how to turn it on is to go to Windows > preferences> extensions and turn it on from there)and then close sketchup and later reopen sketchup it load up with VRay,and asked the same save blank question, how is this possible? Is this a V Ray problem (somehow I've loaded this program wrong?} or is there a way to have it load and behave like all other plug ins that don't load things I don't need on startup?

RE: "Save changes to Untitled?"
Thank you for your response,
When I get home I will create a new template and see if that fixes the issues. I’ve only had V Ray for a few months. I have one other issue that I suspect is related to V Ray or this template issue. When I import a file I get these unfilled triangles at the axis point, do you think this is related to the template file also or is this some other issue?

RE: "Save changes to Untitled?"
Here you go see the attached,
This happens every time I open SketchUp and then go to open a file. don't know when it started but it been going on for awhile now.
