Is there a way to change the search path from “3D warehouse” and have it search my local drive where we have our company components instead?

Ok this is what I am looking to do and what got me on this quest to find the solution in VRay for Sketchup.

I have other personal project I am working on that this would be helpful on.

Thought about that but it would just be colors.
It would not have the "Flake specular" car finish I am looking for. I know in Max I can mix 2 maps and blend the transition between the 2. I have the car finish maps for VRay that some one set up and I am wondering if there is a feature like this in Vray for Sketchup where i can mix maps, so far I have not found this feature in this program.

is there a way to do this type of color fade in VRay for sketchUp?
I have 2 vray VSF Car colors I want to use, but I have not found a way to mix the 2 to get this type of fade between the 2 to get this type of result.

Another problem I have is coping text with leaders.

When I move it the end of the line is anchored (?) in place. Is there a way to move leader text and the leader line or un-anchor so I can move it to a new location and not have to go and move the end separately?

The detail I am working on is a standard detail that has been used for years in autocad. We are transition to Layout and instead of showing several 2D plans I am making new ones in 3D. These are set dimensions for a manufactured item and these details are for the contractors to install there utilities for these units prior to the fixture install, so this one if several details I am working on to convert and add to the scrapbook.

So the other question, I’ve got the 3d SKU files saves so we can update/change it needed, if I make the images a JPG (yes none changing) and did my notes in Layout wouldn’t this help to make the file size smaller?

I see what you are saying, but this is for a detail that fits into a certain sized area on a sheet. So I am guessing my only option is to make it a JPG and bring in the image file.

....working with Layout is new to me

I have been trying to have my dimension align to the angles in the sketchup model and so far I can't find a way in layout to make this work.

So I added them in sketchup, problem is the dimension re-sizes itself in the layout view. I figure it has a face me command to them. But I can’t find no way to turn it off for dimensions. I also found I cant explode the dimensions in sketchup.

So I thought I’d ask what is the best way to do this?

It would be nice to import and export to an Excel/csv type file and/or to have the ability to create spreadsheets in layout (similar to Autocad). Instead of the way I am doing it now?

I am new to Layout and I would like to setup some auto text for specific functions, I would like to have the "<PageNumber>" and add "of <TotalNumber > of pages" in the set so it up dates automatically also. Is this possible? So on my title block it would read "page 1 of 20"

Is there a list/document somewhere of text I can or cannot use in creating custom auto text other than the text that comes with the program?

Have you tried the "Hide all unselected" extension?

You click on the items you want visible, click this command and you only have the items you need visible. Works great for me inside groups and componets.

For me it takes up more screen space in it pinned state and if it's not locked when the mouse moves away it rolls away till I mouse back over it. The problem for me so far is working with colors and maps and seeing the results, make changes, ect. I have to go back and rollover the area to work with the dialog box or lock it in place and have it take up screen space.

For me it's about time, it was quicker before just moving my mouse and seeing what I need to see or make changes and it did not affect my screen space. I could work with it rolled up or not, I could work /render around that space no matter if its rolled up or not. I am old school Autocad DOS and still today I move faster typing/using shortcut and not so much the button menu is newer versions till I get use to the new set up and find what I like to use till the next version. I can jump in to the new version and keep working till I get time or I get use to the new changes.

I guess it's my fault, I got on the post because I wanted to work on a project I needed done quickly and I just started working with it in 2016. I should have done it in 2015 where everything was already set up.

I guess I need a second screen...a new graphic card to support 2 screen... a newer computer......

For future
Block that will not explode in Acad you have to go into block editor and bring up preferences and turn on the edit block check box.
