Uh oh, spoke too soon. When I convert to a pdf I get this crosshatch of lines dividing the poster into ten or so squares. What can I do to rid these lines. I have no idea where they came from as I don't have them in the LO file.

RE: Help With Export
I have the PDFCreator installed already, and it's a go. Thanks for the suggestion ! Worked perfectly, now if I can only remember it next time I need to do something similar.

RE: Help With Export
Went back to "page setup" to triple check just in case I missed something. I have every option for index cards and photos known to man, but nothing approaching 24x36. Is it a function of my personal printer, or is this the options that came with LO ? If LO, how can I get the bigger sizes so I can make this work? If my printer, do I need to go buy another one just to get the size options ? I have HP Deskjet 5600 currently installed.

RE: Help With Export
Thanks Gaieus,
The first part I figured out.
The second part, I have page setup instead of print setup. Under that I have no 24x36 page size, I assume because my printer does not print to that size, ergo the reason I wish to take the file to Kinkos to have them do it. The problem is how to do that. -
RE: Help With Export
OK, went back and found the size I needed (Ad 24x36) and exported it as a pdf, but when it opened I only get a partial of the circle picture and the background has changed from yellow to black.

RE: Help With Export
Thanks for the quick replys.
Dedmim, I could not seem to find size page I needed, where do you find a poster size page? Not sure what references you refer to that are missing. I downloaded it and once I zoomed out I could see the entire poster.
Anssi, I downloaded your file but all I get is a could not render warning.
I've never been succesful at exporting a full size templet and would dearly love to as it's something I could use in shop on a daily basis. -
Help With Export
I hope someone can help. I've been drafted by a non-profit organization I belong to to create a fundraising poster. Here's the L.O. file.SORA Funraiser Poster.layout
I'm having trouble exporting it in a 24" X 36" poster size that I can take to the local Kinkos to have made into a poster. I exported it in a 1 to 1 scale, but that's as far as I've gotten. I'm not sure what format I should use to export it as well. Everthing I export when I go to view it I get only a small portion of the poster.Any help is much appreciated. -
RE: Face Help
Thanks for the offer mac1 but I already worked this out as the 4th post shows. One thing I would like to figure out is why I got all the strays to begin with. I was tracing over an imported picture and was being careful to get the end point inference thing each time I placed a new line. Oh well, now I know.I appreciate the mention of the plugins though and will check them out. BTW, mirroring the bottom half wouldn't work in this case as the top and bottom are not the same ! Something only another woodworker might pick up on.

RE: Face Help
OK, I got it. I did have a bunch of overlaps . Cleaned those up and still no luck, so I started to place lines to make planes until I had it filled up, then erased the lines.Must be an easier way !

Face Help
Need some help figuring out why I can't get a face in this mirror frame half that I'm working on. I assume that something is not coplaner, although for the life of me I can't find it. BTW, is there a plugin that will quickly check for this ?

RE: Scale percision
Othoap,
As a woodworker who drew by hand for more than 20 years, I can testify that what Chris Fuller say's is abosolutely dead on.
"Stop thinking about shapes as primitives that must be manipulated through dialog windows and think about shapes as objects made up of lines, as if you were drawing them with a pencil. Its a bit of a mindset shift coming into SU from most other modelers."
Sketchup was the first program I tried that drew the way is most natural to me. Is it perfect? No. But it's a super program that after using for 18 months I'm still learning new things every day. And I could not have done it without the help of the good folks on this forum. Always get quick and in my case patient walking through of whatever problem I've had. If you're using it professionally, become proficient at the basics before you run into a deadline, or you'll surly become dishearted at the program. The # of tutorials out there coupled with plugins make Sketchup a winner in my book. -
SU 8 Manuals
Been using Version 8 this last week. I went online to download the manual and there isn't one. WTH ? Is this what they do with every release ? What's up with that. It says that it's being mantained online but I'll be dogged if I can find it.

Changing Size one part only
I'm just starting out learning about DC. Is there a way to take the model stile and change width or thickness without affecting the beaded portions dimensions ? I normally would draw this without the lines dividing the bead from the rest of the component but thought it might be easier to do as is.beaded stile.skp

RE: New Monitor, need advise
Yup, no doubt the best thing I've done in quite awhile. Didn't realize how cheap they had gotten.Paid a little over $150 US. Easy on the eyes and wallet!

RE: New Monitor, need advise
Yes, it was the first thing I did when I fired up the new monitor. As I said in the last post, the switch to the HDMI cable proved to be the ticket.

RE: New Monitor, need advise
Thanks Solo, just got back and pulled out the computer for a second look and it does indeed have a HDMI port. It does make a difference, much crisper now. I was toying with the idea of using the old monitor as a second, but don't know if I can do it or not. I still have the old vga port, could I just hook it up as well to the old monitor,or is there more to such a configuration?

RE: New Monitor, need advise
It's a monitor by AOC. The vidio card is a GeForce 9500 GT. I think it's hooked up vga. It came with a HDMI cord also but I didn't see a place to plug it in to my computer. I just hooked it to the old cable that went with the old moniter.

New Monitor, need advise
Just switched from a 15" monitor to a new 24" monitor. Way more room to work, which is great. However, all my lines are not as crisp as they were before. I assume because of the increased size that the squiggly lines appear more pronounced. I have either set profiles to one, or left it unchecked, but it's still to squiggly for my taste. Are there other things I could try to get a more even line ?
