it's not only the look... it's more comfortable and has some useful features - e.g. better wifi- and network support.
If you wan't to buy a new license now for aworkstation, i would say get win 7 x64! Better take some more Ram if you need it - it's cheap now!

RE: SketchUp and Windows XP [64 bit]
i have xp64 running on my render nodes and it's working great!
It is NOT slower than win7 and it consumes LESS memory than 7. Which is good for rendering large scenes.
I have Kaspersky IS running on them for years without any problems - no workarounds! The only thing that can be problematic with xp64 is the printer driver support and pdf writer compatibility because it installs some kind of printer too.
But if you need it for a workstation i would take win 7 x64 because it "feels" much better. I have 7 x64 running on my workstation (24GB) and macbook pro (4GB)

RE: Shortcuts
i have my standart modeling tools assigned to mouse buttons in combination with "shift", "strg" and "alt" (the mouse buttons no.3-5 have assigned the function keys "F3", and "F8" and "F10")
I can select them nearly without thinking. It's more like finger gestures that happen automatically.
The resulting combinations are at the moment:F3..........................pointer/select
F3+shift.................push/pull

RE: Is there a PlugIn for Random Face Selection?
Thanks Pilou!

Yes, this is what i was searching for! I knew that i had already seen this some time ago.
This works for my current task, but it would be nice to have an option to select only faces or only lines. Now it does a random selection of faces AND lines...
Ok, i can fix this with the selection filter, but it would be helpful to have it in one tool. And the other point is, if i randomly select (e.g.) leaves of a tree to apply a different material to them, the surrounding lines of the seleted faces will remain unselected.
So it would be good to have a tool that selects the surounding lines of the faces.
Or maybe this could be done by a seperate plugin. Is there a plugin available for this?Is this enough description, Didier?

I normally need it, to apply different materials to a selection.
Thanks!

Is there a PlugIn for Random Face Selection?
Hi,
is there a plugin that allows you to select a bunch of faces (or better faces and lines - or complete groups) and get a random selection of faces out of them?
...maybe with a specified % and with or without selecting the surrounding lines.i searched, but i can't find something like this...

RE: [REQ]Automatic replace components randomly
+1

it would be great to have a plugin that can randomly replace selected components with other different components.

RE: Is it possible to replace a Photo Match source?
@gaieus said:
Hm. I guess what you could do (or try at least) is to import the new/modified photo again.
First go to your PM scene then import the photo as the previous one. If everything goes right, the camera will stay there. Then right click on the old scene and delete it. You should end up with a PM scene where your edited texture is used (hopefully).
WOW! Thanks Gaieus! it works
i thought, i had tested this before and i didn't work... maybe i did something wrong - took the wrong image or something like this...

so once again, Thank You!

And thank you too for your efford TIG!

RE: Is it possible to replace a Photo Match source?
i need to replace the background/construction image of the photo match with newer, photoshoped version of the same image
-
RE: Is it possible to replace a Photo Match source?
thanks for the suggestions, but there is nothing stored...

I don't get it, why such an easy but essential option is missing?!?
when i work with photomatch i have to adjust/manipulate my image according to the new situation, so it should be possible to update the background image without having to make the whole photo match adjustments again!?!...it shoudn't be that hard to implement a simple replacement dialog, or do i miss something?!?

RE: Advance Camera Tools now available via Google for Free

RE: Faster Autosave!
btw. ...the other joke is, that the autosave function only seems to be active if you are working on the model.
when i have sketchup open but work for some time in another program and come back to sketchup, after the first click in the model the autosave starts...
THIS is very annoying! Why can't this be done when i'm not working on model?!? There has been much time to do the saving before i came back!
