allanx, thanks man for your kind comments...
marked001 thank you, for the grass I did 5 different kinds of blades, used just plain color with slight tone variations... the tilt shift action is just great...
Carloh, thanks, much appreciated, I agree with you: the cow killed the image...

      Thanks Peter,
the image size is actually 1600x800 pixels, rendered in 2 steps due to the limitation of the free license, so I rendered two images of 800x800 pixels for each view, but X shifting the lens first at -50 and then at 50, every image @800x800 took around 48 hours or probably more at 21 SL, except the left portion of the interior view (no trees visible = less geometry to render) which took about 24 hrs... of course I had no dead line!!! yes I will take a look to the GIMP...

      hi there,

I have posted the progress of these images in the [WIP] gallery, finally I feel them decent enough to be posted as finished work in this gallery...

for me this has been an exercise to explore the possibilities of rendering using free software...
      software used:
sketchup (free), maxwell standalone plugin (free), trees and bushes generated with arbaro (free), grass was generated using 'make fur' plugin by tak2hata (free)
sofas, chairs, TV & cowhide are from 3D warehouse

slight postwork for color correction and sharpening

the project is a villa we are currently doing in the architecture office where I work

      c & c are welcome

      Jason,
thanks a lot for your advises!

As you suggested I tried using AGS (with its default parameters) for the windows and used an RGB value of 218 for the white of the walls but the spots still were there... so in top of that I reduced the amount of lights to 4 in the interior and 3 outside and got an 'acceptable' result, but lost the reflections on the glass...
Im seriously thinking on purchasing the pay version of the plugin, but first wanted to explore the pros and cons of using free software and im quite happy with the results...

here comes the corrected image rendered at aprox. 17 SL (I will let it render at least at 20 or 21 SL and post it as finished)

my vacations are over and i'm back to work...
so here comes a little update, i'm trying a night scene image based lightning, I think it looks fine and it is ready to work the interiors...

image rendered at aprox. 18 SL, a lot of white small spots appeared and I have no idea how to get rid of them, probably rendering at least at 25 SL? or is it a matter of the materials? any suggestions? sketchup + maxwell standalone plugin (free)

the HDRI comes from here: http://www.openfootage.net/

    • How to get eye & camera position coordinates?

      Hi forum!
I'm modelling with sketchup and rendering with maxwell standalone plugin (free), I have noticed when rendering some views the rendered image does not correspond with my SU view, I moved my 3D model 100mt away from the origin point [0,0,0] and the problem was solved...
I would like to move my saved views the same distance, found a method to create a camera in SU from scratch with eye and camera position coordinates:
https://developers.google.com/sketchup/docs/ourdoc/camera#eye , but first need to get eye and camera position coordinates of my saved views, any ideas or suggestions on how to get eye and camera position coordinates???
      thanks
      V

p.s. here is a screen capture, with a saved view on the viewport and the maxwell fire window showing a different rendered view.

      Thanks guys for your comments!
here comes a little update with the trees, now the leaves are mapped and applied a opacity channel, the bark material needs some love... 3D trees generated with arbaro are not perfect for foreground but I think they look fine for the background (image rendered to 10 SL)
