    hi there,

I have posted the progress of these images in the [WIP] gallery, finally I feel them decent enough to be posted as finished work in this gallery...

for me this has been an exercise to explore the possibilities of rendering using free software...
    software used:
sketchup (free), maxwell standalone plugin (free), trees and bushes generated with arbaro (free), grass was generated using 'make fur' plugin by tak2hata (free)
sofas, chairs, TV & cowhide are from 3D warehouse

slight postwork for color correction and sharpening

the project is a villa we are currently doing in the architecture office where I work

    c & c are welcome

Congratulations. Nice job. How long did that take to render in Maxwell? You got it pretty sharp for 800 pixels, and no post-pro (you could add GIMP and still be using free software).

        Thanks Peter,
the image size is actually 1600x800 pixels, rendered in 2 steps due to the limitation of the free license, so I rendered two images of 800x800 pixels for each view, but X shifting the lens first at -50 and then at 50, every image @800x800 took around 48 hours or probably more at 21 SL, except the left portion of the interior view (no trees visible = less geometry to render) which took about 24 hrs... of course I had no dead line!!! yes I will take a look to the GIMP...

allanx, thanks man for your kind comments...
marked001 thank you, for the grass I did 5 different kinds of blades, used just plain color with slight tone variations... the tilt shift action is just great...
Carloh, thanks, much appreciated, I agree with you: the cow killed the image...

and here comes the night time version, lighting is image based using an HDRI from http://www.openfootage.net/ , I tried to keep postwork as minimal as possible: slight color correction, sharpening and lens flare...

some small white spots appeared on the glass area, Jason Maranto suggested that it is possible that the complexity of the lighting (multiple light-sources) is causing the error due to late appearance of some of the lighting information, since I am using the free version of the plugin...

really nice! i keep wondering how you make the images that big. isn't the free version limited to 800x600 px?

edit: just read that it's merged with two rendering...sorry ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Great shots. How did you set up the camera for the merged images?

Carloh and Peter, thanks a lot for your comments...
here comes attached a screen capture with my camera settings...
the output resolution is set to 800 x 800, for the right half of the image the lens X shift value is set to 50, then for the left portion is set to -50, the Y shift value must be the same for both images
(note in this case my Y shift value was set to -19 because of the image composition)
